You can't hit him without a +3 or better weapon. So anyone without one will just be useless. If you don't have a +3 or better, you have to go back and find or buy one. If you have a mage summon as much as you can and keep it in between as a buffer. Also, get protection from evil on every party member, in addition to the rest of your defense spells(bless, defensive harmony, etc.)

First of all WELCPME TO IRONWORKS JOHNNY
Thats the balor in the underdark right?, anyway there are a number of ways, you can use weapons like the daystar and spells like abi dazims (sp?) horrid writing. The way i kill it is just charge into it with my tanks (Fighters) and use my mages to back them up Hope this helps ![]()

But then you dont get the light gem do you Krost?? And the best idea is to send someone with high saving throws up to him first to hopefully survive the parilyzing attacks... then if you survive that you are on your way to heaven

Cast 4 defensive harmonys on your fighters and summoned monsters and that balor wont ever touch you.

and if you dont have any +3 weapons, you can always kill a few drow, i think all of their weapons are +3
if you have a cleric, cast bless, chant, chaotic commands, etc, or equip some stun immunity items, and that should keep him from stunning you...then hack away at him until all thats left is giblets |

i have a cool tactic against those demons (balor, tanar'ri etc)
this assumes that you have at least one guy in your pary with +3 weapon (being in the underdark and all..) send someone with decent hitpoints forward (not the one with the best weapon) and let him be paralyzed by the balor.. (hmm.. i forgot to mention that you must have an otiluke's resilient sphere memorized.. thats not a waste since 4th level spells are mostly not great anyway) and once this guy is stunned.. cast otiluke's upon him. the balor is very stupid and keeps attacking the stunned guy only but cant damage him because of the otiluke thing. meanwhile you can happily thrash it to death with others. (the one problem with this is that.. if your party members have great saving throws they will often save against your own otiluke - makes me think they shouldn't allow saves against any spells cast by your own party members) |
