I'm just about to finish BG2 (as soon as I "get some" from Jaheira). I've not experimented w/ any character classes other then the basics and I'm wondering which of the above 2 would be more fun to play with. I'm leaning towards the archer since there are a lot of good bows to use. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Personally, I think the Monk is the coolest class.
I dont know why, maybe because they are such cool fighters... But if you're thinking equipment, I'd go for the Archer, since the Monks are better without weapons, and cant use armour. So, if I were you, I'd be going for the Archer. see ya! |

The monk and the archer are good characters. I think that for team play, an archer will be better. But, from my experiments, a monk is more fun, Because playing an archer is too easy. My lvl 11 archer has a thaco of -11, so he hits everything. You won't get a lower thaco elsewhere at same level .

I think you should make the choice based on you preffered style of play. TACTICAL (mage, Thief, Archer, Bard) or DIRECT (fighter types, monk, cleric). Of course you can employ complex tactics with direct type characters, but generally this will only be for especially tough opponents.
My two cents anyway. |

If I dual the archer to a thief, will I be prohibited from using long bows (even after i'm a higher level thief)?
