Have you also found that Stamina seems very important?
Gadgies and Bards always run out, and even a Lizzie Fighter in a prolonged battle. I think in my games I have had more probs running out of Stamina than anything else, especially true with small parties which I play. Wondering about having a Stamina based party. Obviously at the sacrifice of other nice attributes, but worth a go??? Liz Fig focus on Str Pie Vit Mook Ran focus on Str Pie Vit Dwarf Bard focus on Str Pie Vit Fairie Alc/Ninj - Develop as Alc using staff then switch to Ninj when CoC avail. I have a big problem that I am just unable to resist the CoC, I really dont want to play a Ninj but I cant help myself! |

Heh. I usually go with one or two points in Vit every level, depending on other development factors, and that seems to be enough fairly soon, especially once i get a couple stamina regenerating items. And there's plenty of Stamina potions available, and spells, and an instrument even (Restoration). The only time i ever added to Piety was when i wanted to see what Iron Will was like. Most of my parties are 1 or 2 chars.

Stamina is a level 1 priest spell. Rest all is level 3 IIRC. Just cast it when needed.

Piety is really only worthwhile for Ironwill and ONLY if your entire party will have this expert skill.
Stamina is also releted to class, fighters get more of it at level up than the others. Pure casters get the least. Its interesting that Wereboar has pointed out the Stamina the spell. Understanding that piety's usefullness is severely limited - you might well decide to forego the 5 classes that rely on this attribute (so that you can increase more important attributes). The 5 classes are of course Valk, Lord, Monk, Bishop, and Priest. Unfortunetly this kills any chance of getting the spell rest-all through one of these classes (Monk doesn't get it anyway), the spell Stamina however is a differnt story. This spell is also available to Mages AND its available at level 1. I have sometimes taken one level as a mage and trained it just for this spell - particularly usefull for bards and gadgeteers. Even fighters, with bonus stamina regeneration, will tire in the high level battles. I assume it's because their increased number of attacks means they use up stamina faster than they recover it. You really need at least one spellcaster who can cast stamina or rest all. The latter is better as you recharge everyone. The only problem is, if you are casting stamina recovery spells then you aren't casting other spells. My gadgeteer and bishop tend to work as a nice pair for tough battles. Both of them can enact guardian angel spells to protect front line fighters and when the gadgeteer gets the heal all item your party becomes much harder to kill.

@Scottg, Stamina isn't available to mages. It's Alchemy/Divine.
Superman is another nice way to boost your stamina imho. It gives you a couple of more rounds to fight until you have to rest (all), and ofc fight way better. |

Interesting, ferro287.
I use superman very rare in my games, mostly in early stages. Later I don't need it. But I always thought: what is this invigorator belt for ? My gadgy stands in the back, firing the omnigun and using gadgets. If superman slows down stamina loss , then I will use it VERY often in my next games. |

The belt is the reason why i'd go to the temple asap with a gadgeteer. It's even the main reason why i prefer a gadgeteer over a bard. Superman doesn't only boost abilities, but stamina and hp, even sp (all due to the stat increases i'd say). Another plus is the fact that you learn skills faster (stat increase/more swings/attacks).
My current party casts Superman almost every fight (but then again it's a male solo pure bishop ![]() Oh just one thing: I died once when superman ran out. I don't think the (additional) hp are subtracted, only multiplied, but they can be rounded down (eventually to 0). |
