ive asked many people but never got a straight answer. so i have 2 questions now.

Use a "short staff" on a smallish rock just north of the ruins. After you touch the 6 tree runes, it may glow green. If you don't have one, I recommend the merchant Burz in the lower Monkery since it is so low level in value. A great place for maps is found here:
