Can anyone explain why a game that needs 500Mhz, 128 Mb Ram, Windows XP abd a 32 MB Video Card...wont play on a computer that has all of these +300Mhz?

Grr Annoyance!!!

FJ, boy do I ever feel your pain. I, too, had all the recommended specs needed and more and it took all kinds of tweaking, etc. to make this game work. Even with the latest patches Bethesda still failed to address the TONS of bugs that comes with Morrowind (don't get me wrong, I love the game, it's Bethesda's commitment to buggy games that gets me steamed). It got so frustrating at one point that I almost totally gave up.

So, speaking from personal experience, save yourself a lot of time and anguish and do yourself a BIG favor and directly contact Bethesda's Tech Support and tell them exactly your problem(s). Believe it or not they got back to me in less than 24 hours. They had me send them a DX Diagnosis and told me what I needed to do to get the game going. They'll tell you how to find and send the DX Diag. in a clear step by step proceedure. Good luck.

Not that it will fix things, but 128 MB RAM is far from enough. Don't believe what they print on the box. You'll need 256 at least.

I think you need a 64mb video card.

I think it's lots of ram that does the trick. I'm running it on a crappy 16mb TNT but with 576 mb ram and it works mostly well.
The only real problem I have is the propylon chambers. Inside them it's not measured in FPS but rather SPF.
And when it snows in Solstheim, it's like walking in kneedeep mud.

I have to get myself a new PC one of these days...

Perhaps a new video card is enough... for $70 you can get an ATI Radeon 8500 which is enough to get the game running at 1024x768 smoothly.

128 meg memory with Windows XP is a bare minimum. Your pc in general will run a heck of a lot better with 256 or better. I've seen p4 pc's running XP on 128 meg ram and they run like a p2-450. Also a 32 meg video card is inadequate for this game. I'm amazed to read someone with a 16 meg card can even play the game.

and you have to turn all the eye candy off. Reduce your resolution, graphics effects, visual distance, weather effects ..... the game is 'playable' but not pretty.
