I am now in Balmora and the choices that lie before me are the thieves guild, fighters guild, and mage guild. Already I am being trianed by the Blades. Can you join all three without a great deal of conflict? And then what about the House of Haluu? Thanks.

Albromor, I don't mean to sound rude, but the game is completely open ended. Play your own way first, and then come back and pester us to find out how to cover every single nook and crannie in the game. In other words:
We gave you the basics; now take what we've given you and run with it. Don't run to the forums every time there is a fork in the path.

Yes, you can join them all, and you won't have any trouble with quests crossing eachothers paths. At least not very soon.

Well Firestormalpha you *ARE* rude. I am asking for some clarification here, not every "nook and cranny" detail as you put it. This is an RPG totally different from anything I have ever experienced before in both game play and design. I am still trying to get the "feel" of the game and believe it or not I have discovered a number of things on my own as "the forks in the road" come my way. As I have said before in other posts, my game did not come with a Game Manual. That is my reason for my inquiries about attributes, accessing spells, repairing items, gaining levels, raising stats, etc. (I am very cognizant the Manual in no way gives every detail, but it obviously gives the basics which I don't have access to). I want to know how to do these basic things so I can get on with playing the game. And, yes, I have searched the internet for certain things like Character Creation, but I have to watch out because there are spoilers throughout and I don't want to ruin the game for myself.
I have a alot of gaming experience with Baldur's Gate. I visit the BG1 forums to lend my experience whenever I can. I understand "newbies" to a game. I don't get frustrated even if the question has been asked a thousand times. You *DIDN'T* have to respond, but for some reason you just had to. If you are pestered that is your problem. And to say "I don't mean to sound rude", are you kidding?! Reread what you wrote. And this line of yours about "don't run to the forums every time there is a fork in the road." Are you now a moderator? Believe it or not, I will be returning here as I get stuck. Is that okay with you? I have seen you ask various questions in various boards here. So, what is the difference? In all my years on the net in many different forums I have *NEVER* had this type of interaction with another person. But this time I just had to even if means my first ever warning or even expulsion. By the way, thanks johnny, that is all I was looking for. [ 06-02-2003, 04:55 PM: Message edited by: Albromor ] |

There was probably no need to say that Firestorm. It's annoying to start something and then find later that you made a simple mistake and have to start again - the massiveness of the game means for me, at least, starting over just because you should have not joined this or somesuch is irritating at best. It's pretty overwhelming too! It's such a very different game from usual, like Albromor, I came from an AD&D perspective and found it all very confusing - if you look back you'll see heaps of trivial question threads from me, which people answered very patiently.
Albromor keep asking your questions . It's not pestering to ask questions about gameplay on a gaming forum Regarding House Hlaalu, I wouldn't join it straight away - go check out the other houses first to see which one you think you'll fit in best with. Hlaalu is a thief-centred house, Redoran fighter, and Telvanni mage. You don't have to join for example Telvanni if you're a mage, but you might find the rewards more suitable or best for RPing. I know I wished I had joined Redoran as a knight instead of Hlaalu because I didn't know you couldn't leave a house and join another.

I would say you should join them all, and either house hllalu, or else redoran in Ald-Ruhn, basically because the buildings the Telvanni build suck, they have roots growing through the floor and are hard to get around. As for mages, thieves, and fighters guild i joined them all and found no major conflict between them.

Aelia, there's a possibility to join all three great houses. It's a mod though, and you'll have to download it from morrowindfiles.com, but it adds more playable quests to the game.
Just telling in case you're interrested.

Albromor, I'm sorry you took such offence to my previous statement. I admit that I was unecessarily callous and you have my full apologies. However, next time you feel offended, and feel the need to say something that may invoke Moderator response please consider sending it in the form of a Personal Message via the PM link at the top of each post. Again my sincere apologies. I will try to be a little more empathetic in the future.
