I'm playing through Baldur's Gate, but when I get done, I want to play a 3D RPG. I've looked at quite a few, but they are missing some of the main features I want. Like, can you build your own party (like in BG2? I made an entire party, and that's what I'm using)? I like lots of customization and personalization. I can't really find much info on party size, and if you can create people and that kind of thing.

No party in Morrowind dude, sorry. But it kicks ass nonetheless. You won't regret buying this game.

You should try checking out Wizardry 8, or one of the older Might and Magic games. Say, M&M 6 or 7. IMHO they have a great play system. I havent played the last few M&M games, but common opionion is that they are flawed.

The older might and magic games are my fav

the question "should i buy it" isnt a good one to ask on a forum full of morrowind addicts a better question would be to ask why its worth buying, in which case you will be supplied with essays from all and sundry as to the boons of this game

just buy it and see, make sure you got 64mb graphics card at least (not onboard) and preferably 256mb memory and processor over 500mhz and you'll be fine to play it, it is worth buying because its one of the best games around, i like the party in baldurs gate too but in morrowind you have far more options to improve your main character so you dont care about a party, plus theres far more rp than in baldurs gate, you got more choices of what to do.

I would say if you want a 3D RPG there isn't much choice. NWN is too simplistic and linear. Dungeon siege exactly the same. Morrowind is probably the best of the 3, your PC specs permitting.
I really enjoyed Morrowind for a while but it got very repetetive and I uninstalled it. It is very open ended which is good and there is a vast world to explore, but it is too easy to become a virtual superhero.
I would say buy Wizards and Warriors (from your local bargain bin $10) or buy Icewind Dale 2 which is excellent.

DON'T buy Wizardy 8 unless you want to waste half an hour on every minor skirmish with weak enemies, it has the worst combat system in any game I've ever played and I've been role playing since 1982 and CRPG playing since not long after. It really needs to be seen to believe how dreary and awful it is.

Or, buy any Might and Magic game, (also bargain bin!).

How long did you play Wiz 8 for Desdicado? I imagine you werent aware of the option to turn the monsters moves during combat to the quick speed.

Yes, fights can go for half an hour if its a big one and everything normally walks around so slowly, but

When they have fast move speed during combat on, fights arent too long and fun, IMHO.

well neverwinter night is not THAT bad. it is okay and good quest and it is not that linear compared to dungeon siege. dungeon siege is like diablo only 3d. wizard 8 is not that bad also compared to pool of radiance when it comes to fighting. just wanted to comment

i played it with 16mb and it was a little bit too slow, admittedly playable but im giving recommended specs, i think minimum requirement is about an 8mb 3d card! just imagine the speeds you'd get, also processor wise i think minimum pentium 3 would also work,so about a 400 mhz and 64mb ram but the game would just be silly to play.
