this is for anyone life myself who hasn't got the patience to actaully look at the manual before playing a new game. had been cursing the fighting/auto targeting in wiz 8 when everyone in the party decided to do their own thing in combat. found manual re-targetting extremely tedious ..... until i discovered the joy of the shift key. holding it down and selecting an enemy gets the whole party to target that creature. quite useful when you're surrounded and want to reduce the number of enemies quickly. also, great for ensuring that none of the party target sleeping enemies (ahhh, those fairy sticks) and thus wake them up again.

and where did i discover this gem of info??? on page 72 of the manual, the last page. come on guys, did you really expect me to read the whole thing before actually playing?

ROTFL! I didn't have to read the manual because someone else thoughtfully mentioned it to me.

Ya know what I had known the shift key thing - but after accidently ahem, formatting my laptop due to a crash - I lost my save games (most of my chars were around level 16) - needless to say I was miffed beyond words at my own stupidity (I had, through my own ignorance caused the laptop to crash) ... anyway I just recently returned to playing. (I will say, it's been much easier now because I know what to expect, what works, etc). But thank you for the reminder about the shift key.

Feel silly for mentioning this, but incase someone hasn't noticed: the shift key, when not in combat, toggles 'run'. Ticks me off that this function can't be reassigned to a different key, as I'm a 'mouse and numberpad' kinda guy...

In W-8 i've trained myself to move using the arrow keys, and my pinky on the Shift. The only hard part is getting my thumb on the Decimal if i want to sidle to the right.
