I'm not being smart mouthed with my title. Its just that there are so many RPGs out there it gets hard deciding where to spend one's limited funds. So, what is it about this game that you like so much? Why would you recommend it? Also...

1. Is this a first person shooter?

2. Do you have party members join?

3. Is the interface smooth, clunky, or in-between?

4. Do I need to patch the game?

5. On a scale from 1 to 10, with 1 being the lowest, what rating would you give this game and why?

* Thanks ahead of time!

this is first person view RPG. not first person shooter.

2. Do you have party members join?
yes.

3. Is the interface smooth, clunky, or in-between?
smooth

4. Do I need to patch the game?
Yes

5. On a scale from 1 to 10, with 1 being the lowest, what rating would you give this game and why?
I give it a 8 , it got good musics, good graphic, storyline not bad, good atmosphere, nice sky, your character can talk to you.

1. Is this a first person shooter?

It's 1st person; no shooting at all, almost no tests of dexterity in the game. It's more old school, hard core, turn-based type combat.

2. Do you have party members join?

You can make up to six of your own characters, and can get up to 2 NPCs to join you. Character creation/development is the strength of the game, it's very complex and addictive.

3. Is the interface smooth, clunky, or in-between?

It's pretty smooth, more so as you get used to it and use some keyboard shortcuts.

4. Do I need to patch the game?

Probably not anymore, I think the new CDs ship with the latest patch on it. Not a big deal if you need to though.

5. On a scale from 1 to 10, with 1 being the lowest, what rating would you give this game and why?

Probably a 9 or 10 only because of how much fun I had with it. If you like classic RPG games it's a must.

This game is a must! If you bought mm9 and were disapointed(like me) you'll love it! Its got all types of elements like modern weapons(like the omni gun) and swords to bugmen(T'rang) and bankrobbing rats(rattus rattus)!

Hey,

I love this game. It is fun and I could play it all day long if I didn't need to work always once and while to support the electricity bill... LOL.

You might hate it or you might love it. I don't think you can be in the mid range there. LOL. It is up to your likes and dislikes.

I'd give this game 9 when 1 is the lowest and the 10 is the highest. I liked Betrayal In Antara better though (the only one in the krondor series I really liked) mainly because you could actually fix the weapons and armors for example make an ordinary sword into a flaming one by using powder stuff or oiling your armor to be more protection. Also what made it better was that you actually had to feed and rest your characters during the journey or else they had danger of dying. That why Betrayal in Antara would take the first place on my list of top 10 roleplaying games.

Now wizardry8 is many ways though better than BIA. Better graphics, smoother, better party system and cooler monsters and etc. So, Wizardry 8 is definetly a game you should at least try...

In addition, this game is a texas chainsaw massacre game even if you get to kill a lot. LOL... and you, as the player, are in third person... kind of like the arm of god trying to control the lives of six characters *your party* and being responsible for their individual growth as magic casters or fighters or even pickpocketers. Greetings,

Why don't you try it first!
There is a nice demo on the main site: www.wizardry8.com
It is big, but you get a feel for the interface and gameplay.
I bought it after playing the demo, and loved it (played non-stop for 4 months).

Now I'm playing Morrowind, The Elder Scrolls 3

Both are RPG but some major differences.
Graphics and sounds are great in both games

Wizardry8 --------------------- Morrowind

party-based (up to 8).............solo-char
many, hard fights................not that many fight, easy fights
combat is turn-based/real-time..combat real-time click and run
maybe 20-25 quests total...........100's of quests
big non-linear world.............huge non-linear world
Char development best ever........char development less interesting
fights always a challenge.......fights too easy after couple of lvls

My two cents...

If you like combat or you want to have full control of your characters, go for Wizardry8
If you like doing quests, exploring and talking to people, go for Morrowind
If you are a true RPG fan, get them both... they're the best RPG's I played for a long time.

Signed,
One sick Psycho
