Got WoW last week. Pretty fun, character's levelling fast. Anyway, I wanted to see if gldfarming was too much of a problem in this game (I knew it happenned, I just wanted to know how bad it was). During my research, I found this amusing little verse about the subject. Enjoy.

It can be a problem if you are also farming in 'their territory' for something legitimate or just to make cash for your char. They'll steal kills and try to duel (gank if you're opposing faction) you. If invited to groups they will attempt to steal loot (ninja) to meet quota. They do inflate prices and define awfully high prices on certain items making it harder for us as genuine players.

Overall, it is a problem for this game but not one you have to experience directly or will probably run into often, in a personal sense. And some games are terribly worse off. Blizzard insist they don't tolerate it and claim to have closed thousands of accounts due to farming.

So your answer is yes it's a problem but for the average player no, not really. I am certainly aware of them, know people who foolishly teamed with them once or twice and know where to go looking if I ever want to find them, but all in all I don't grapple with it daily or have it interfere in my playtime.

I chased off farmers from the Legashi encampments in Azshara Friday. Me and some pals were there farming up the last bit of felcloth I needed for my Robe of the Void, and we needed to have more kills. There was an annoying farmer, so I just started banishing every pull he had. Nothing bothers them quite so much as 30 seconds of whiffing at thin air every 2 mins. It felt so goooooood to be mean to a farmer.

How did you know he was a farmer?

Well, he was farming the area, doing circles killing satyrs. Now, you can get demonic runes, lots of runecloth, and rare drops of felcloth from these mobs, rarely some green drops, too. Now, what would a doorf warrior (I think) be doing farming this area?

The answer could well be any number of things, all legit. But, I needed to farm the area for felcloth, and he happens to be the enemy (evil, sneaky Alliance), so I tried to screw with him until he gave up and left. It worked, too.

Banish is great fun for annoying the alliance. We were doing quests in Silithis and these alliance tried to attack us. We flagged and killed them. Then this annoying alliance asshat starts following us everywhere. I mention to my mates that you know he's following us so a gaggle of 12 and 13-yr olds can come roll over us and then /spit and /slap our bodies to get their jollies off. Not 2 minutes later here come a good dozen level 60's to gankify us. I got /spit and /slapped silly I tell you.

So, our measley 5-member group ain't gonna try to roll against these losers who have no girlfriends and nothing better to do. So, we unflag and rez. Then, I notice that a lot of these are there farming the elementals like us. So, while my mates get the kills we needed I follow them around and get my petty little revenge by banishing all their pulls, again and again and again. Then one dies, and I EAT HIM which is waaaaay better than /spit and /slap any day.
