Ok, I know that to get to Mournhold, you have to be attacked by the dark brotherhood, is there a specific trigger for this? I'm level 32 and still haven't been attacked, yet I heard of level 2's getting to Mournhold!

I remember when I installed it onto a game with a pre-built character I got attacked the very next time I rested. When starting characters from scratch it normally happens after a few MW days. Sounds to me like you're bugged and need to reinstall, but I'm pretty dumb when it comes to stuff like this so I recommend waiting for a second opinion .

I was attacked by a dark brotherhood agent at level one or two.

Sorry to hijack the thread but how do I go to Mournhold after being attacked?

Let's see if I can remember... Talk to somebody about it (it'll be listed as something like 'Attacked by Dark Brotherhood' on the chat menu) and they'll tell you to visit some guy in Ebonheart. Go see him, and he'll tell you where you can get a boat to Mournhold.

I think that's right :/.

I may be wrong but I believe you get to Mournhold by speaking/doing quest to the big honchos at Ebonheart. Sir Degrader, if you havn't been attacked by the Brotherhood by now, sorry but you won't. It may have something to do with getting involved with the Morag Tong early in the game. The same thing happened to me so I just started a new character. You don't have to reload. Just follow the early stages of the main quest to a tee and before 3rd level they'll come looking. Plus it helps to go to sleep once in a while in the beginning because thats when it happens. PS anyone looked into my new posting so I can play too?!?!

Rest somewhere, if it doesn't work, rest again. You will eventually get atacked by an assasin, nad be sure to talk to a guard afterwards in order to get the next part of the quest.

I didn't find them that tough at levels 3-5. It may be they're keyed to your level, in which case, at L32, they would be rather nasty.

In fact, that's exactly how it works, plus they get better weapons depending on how powerful you are. At lower levels they'll use iron daggers, then they eventually work their way up to ebony dart and Poisonswords.

For Ivellis and anyone else (spoilers obviously)

After being attacked by a dark brotherhood schmuck, talk immediately to a guard afterwards. He'll point you towards a chap named Apelles Matius in Ebonheart. Once you find him (out in the open somewhere investigating the fort) you just have to talk about the dark brotherhoood with him and he'll tell you the mage you have to find in Ebonheart who is willing to send you magically to the Mournhold. I've just returned from there in fact after killing the brotherhood leader.
