So, I've started over with a new character. Wanted a 'mostly magic' type, so followed the advice to make a breton born under atronach: I honestly think this is the only way of making a magic based character in this game that could pretty much hold his own against a fighter type, which strikes me as odd: in a LOT of recent games, the magikers are simply weaker...
First time through, I concentrated on the main quests and ignored doing many jobs for the various factions. This time, I'd rather do things differently, and I have a question about the 'eltonbrand': Is there a way to get it without being permanently vamped? And does anyone remember exactly where this story line commences? I never bothered getting the Daedric crescent last time, and could use instructions: I know its in Tel Fyr, but that's all I remember. Also, last time through, I never found the spells for bound Paldrons or Greeves, I think the consensus is that they aren't available: anyone know any differently? How bout glass greeves? Had them last game, can't remember where I got them... And where do you get the Helm of Bearclaw quest? Oru [ 04-21-2004, 07:07 PM: Message edited by: Oruboris ] |

i dont know some of the answers to your questions, you might try a forum search.
once you are strong enough to survive a medium journey up the foyada, go to ghost gate (hope you put some points into your sneak skill). You can find a whole suit (everything) of glass and (i believe) ebony armor there. i know the glass for a fact, because im wearing most of the suit of armor i stole from there. vampirism is also not untreatable. just do a search on google for "morrowing + vampirism + walkthrough + quests" and search around till you find someone who knows the cure. also, vampirism is not a sure thing. your armor and your ability (and disease resistances) all affect the percent chance of vampirism infection. i fought a vampire and let him hit me for about twenty minutes and couldnt catch the disease. that sucks, because i really wanted to play the vampirism quests. i may enter the cheat codes to give myself the disease and then go and do the treatment later. magicka characters also start out weaker, because they arent as strong and have less combat abilities. it might be good to do some less combative missions (mage guild) and to wear some pretty good armor (see glass armor/ebony armor above, if you have skill in light or heavy armor). Once you save up money from quests then go BUY your upgrades in skill. use this to level up. endurance will give you more HP per level, so take alot in that (endurance/10, minus remainder = HP gained per level advance) about fifty in endurance should give you some pretty good damage soaking. strength is good for swinging most weapons. agility is good for dodging. speed is good for casting quickly and moving around to avoid strikes. having trouble with short range fighters? run and cast spells that have distance, keep backing away. have trouble with ranged creatures? draw your primary weapon and attack, most NPC's with range are bad at close range combat. Have trouble with cliff racers? too bad, these are the stupidest creatures to have to fight, but theyre fast so you cant outrun them. also, if youre having some trouble with combat, use some summon spells to summon creatures who will protect you while you cast some destruction on your enemies.

A note to any who are reading this as reference and don't know already. After a certain point in the main quest you become incapable of becoming a vampire. If you've reached this point you know what I mean.

IIRC The Shrine for the Helm of Bearclaw quest is actually on the east tip 2nd largest island. The largest one would be the island with Dagon Fel on it.
Firestormalpha just case "weakness to common disease on self". Problem solved. [ 04-21-2004, 09:41 PM: Message edited by: Seraph ] |

yes, you can become a vampire after that point by:
1) creating a potion or spell and repeatedly casting it on yourself again and again. until it holds. once you catch, dont cure disease or heal... otherwise you won't ever be a vampire because you cant catch the disease twice. 2) you can use the console option to use the cheat and add the disease to your character. i dont know the cheat, look it up via google. NOTE: the method of curing vampirism (for when you complete all the vampire quests and want to go back to having people talk to you) can be found in a book called "vampirism in vvardenfeld ptII" this book can be found in jobashas rare books in vivec, but you will need it for a mages quild quest if you happen to be a member.

there are three places to get "chummy" with the vamps, anywhere else and you wont belong to a clan so you wont be able to complete the vampiric quests.
these are the locations: Galom Daeus (west and a little south of Uvirith's Grave, NW of Nchuleftingth), a Dwarven ruin that is the lair of the Berne Clan of vampires. • Druscashti (east of Khuul, SE of Derelict Shipyard and just SW of Urshilaku Camp), a Dwarven ruin that is the lair of the Quarra Clan of vampires. • Ashmelech (south of Sanctus Shrine, on a small island NE of Falasmaryon), a non-descript cave that hides the lair of the Aundae clan of vampires.

Actually, you don't need to join any vampire clan, even a rogue vampire can still do the eltonbrand quest.
