Any non-cheat way to kill Arkanis Gath?

Greetings all! Um....spoiler "flavored" material

Ok, its chapter 6, I cant see any possible need for the shadow thieves continiued existence anymore and have decided to give them a little payback for yanking me around earlier in the game. My party is really tough, Ive killed the two evil dragons, all the liches and the twisted rune gang...but as soon as I take a sword to anyone in the shadow thieves guild, Arkanis Gath pops up and starts mowing thru my party in seconds. I figured out that if you cast death ward on your main character, this keeps arkanis from insta killing all your party, as his ai targets your main character first. I was quite pleased with myself as I quickly whittled him down to "near Death"...till I figured out 10 minutes later this is as far as he goes. Is there any secret that anyones found to killing him, that doest involve opening up the game code...like " arcanis can only be killed by jagged hangnails" or something like that. It bothers me that this tiny bit of cop out programming is keeping me from having my proper vengence on the shadow theives, and from freeing their prisoners.

I'm afraid that the answer is no, so your vengeance will have to remain unfulfilled. Not even CTRL+Y will terminate him.

Sigh....not what I wanted to hear...its odd that the game would show you a stronghold of people being imprisioned and tortured, and not let you do anything about it. But thanks for the response though!

I've not tried this before, but in Chapter 6 you can ask the Shadow Thieves to help you kill Bodhi (for good)....they may dispatch Arkanis for the job...and he should be less invincible then.

Ideally, you're not supposed to attack the Shadow Thieves. The game enforces this by spawning Arkanis Gath to deal with you appropriately; he has a minimum hit point of 1 (so you can't slash him to death), is immune to all sorts of instant-kill effects (so you can't use Power Word: Kill, Death Spell, etc. him), and has a sword that will obliterate you in one hit. Fun, n'est ce pas? [img]graemlins/blueblink.gif[/img] In short, there is no non-cheat method of killing that version of Arkanis.

It makes you wonder, though--if he were that powerful, why would he work for Aran Linvail and not the other way around? [img]graemlins/saywhat.gif[/img]

If you want to know
I once put Imoens Belt on my character (gives protection vs. Dying)
and gave him KillSword (sword 1d10+1000+1000fire+1000col etc.)

So
I attacked Arkanis and we were just hacking in on eachother for 10 mintes with a total damage of about 100000hp and he didn't die

Thats because he is one of the 'Non-Killable' Characters.... a list of the are:

Imoen in dungeon,
Irenicus in Spellhold,
Bodhi in tomb in chap 3,
Arkanis Gath
Elhan

These ppl CANNOT die... not even with ctrl-y

Can't you imprison the guy? That way he isnt dead, but out of the picture. I did managed to kill Linvail while I worked for the ST without MrDead showing up. I pickpocket him for his cool items, and when he turned hostile Gath didnt show up!

Nup.... they r COMPLETELY Immune to Imprisonment, Disitegrate, flesh to stone, finger of death.... Even if they dont make their saving throw... The animation happens but the just dont die

They have Imoens belt
That gives total protection to anything that would make him or her disappear from the game
