Well? I tried the Sea Caves last time and got my ass kicked by the Buccanner ghosts (I ran from Nessie), so I teleported out with Return to Portal. My characters are all about level 12~13 (Including RFS-81, I wanted Saxx but he doesn't go there. Guess I'll pick him up again then).

I have a Rawulf Priest (Kinda useless guy IMHO), a Mook Ranger (shoots stuff up with his uber-Tripleshot Crossbow!), Bob the Lizardman Fighter (just hacks stuff up), a Human Ninja (another kinda useless character, I'm hoping that she scores Critical Kills a lot later...), a Human Gadgy, and a Faerie Mage.

Some characters have a couple stats maxed and is investing in Personal Skills. Bob has max Strengh and Vitality, the Rawulf has maxed Piety, the Ranger has maxed Sense, the Gadgy has maxed Dex (almost maxed Sense, I think it's at 99), and the Mage has maxed Intelligence and will soon max Dex and Speed.

Note that I'm working for the Umpani and the T'Rang, so I can go though the Umpani Sea Caves or the way by the swamps.

Another quick question: Who do you think is better (for my party), Saxx or Tantris? I'm thinking Saxx because 1)Nobody in my party uses Swords and Saxx can use them well and 2)He is a bard and I don't have a bard and 3)He can go to Ascension Peak.

Thanks in advance!

Nessie and Bayjin are pretty hard at levels 12-13. I generally wait til 15 or so, but everyone has their own strategy. I want Soul Shield and Magic Screen at max for the pirates, plus Element Shield for Nessie (and I use a few Canned Elementals for her). There are enough quests to do so I put Bayjin off until later. It is a bit surprising to me that you are maxing so many skills at your level. I have a party of four, levels 16-18, and no one has maxed more than one skill. I have a Faerie Ninja, Mook Ranger, Human Rogue and Elf Bishop. I guess I spread the points around. Good luck! P.S. Bards are worth it, as powerful as any magic user at higher levels and they can fight! Fang and a good shield make them formidable. But the only NPC I drag around with me is the Android Monk RFS. Sometimes Vi because she learns Portal spells.

I didn't go to Baijin yet, because of a game error, but i defeated Nessie abot 10 times during my 2 "games". She is defeatable at level 12-13 if you have Armor Melt, Enchanted Blade (the spells or scrolls) and if you have Bloodlust(or a good 2h weapon with a lot of +hit). Unfortunately you don't have a faerie ninja to use the Cane of Corpus, which is bad, since it is a kickass weapon. Try searching the secret dungeons (see dlh). The third one (Northern Wilderness) is very difficult(legvel 20 Golems-not very powerful, level 19 Burning Heads-Nuclear Blast), but the final Battle is VERY difficult(Nadgog-level 28 powerful caster and level 24 ghosts), but they guard a very kneat treasure!!!!

Hmmm...what's some quests I can poke around and do?

I've already found the Stone Idol and have gotten the Helm of Serenity...and the Chaos Moiliri...(both my T'Rang and my Umpani quest now requires me to go to Bayjin.)

Oh, and another thing: I can't find Tantris! I went back to the Mine Tunnels, but he wasn't at that outpost. Odd...

Well after posting that I did get to bayjin and kill nessie. Very difficult but I will say superman spell and potion are necessary. Not too much affects nessie but a fighter with superman. And a lot of healing. However the monsters in bayjin are even more difficult some of them because there are so many spellcasters.

Death rays, I hate them. The best trick is to run up and kill them, after fighting off the Baruka fish or squids. Soul Shield helps but is no certain protection. Helps to have Bloodlust in the hands of a rogue. Some times I find the trip to Nessie harder than Nessie herself. Lots of reloads. In one game, I left the deeps, went back and rested to get a new set of monsters. I don't let people die if I can help it, only after a long difficult battle that I don't want to repeat. Another gripe is that after sending her to the deep, the chest had nothing of worth. After defeating her 6 times in this latest game I gave up and went on with it. Settled for cheap treasure. It would be nice if there was something guarenteed in that chest but, alas, no.

Couldn't you save after beating her and try opening the chest until you get good stuff?

Now my party's stronger and I'm a bit more confident to try the Sea Caves once more. But before that I think I'll wander around, make money, kill monsters, and try to save up for the Astral Dominae...stupid Don Barlone.

If you play an old, unpatched version, Tantris often disappeared permanently.

With patched version, he'll wait for you in upper martens bluff, if you hired and dismissed him earlier.
