I have been exploiting the buy cheap sell expensive trick to gain extra wealth for my trainings and I noticed that...

NPC disposition: 100
Item in question: Dwemer Jinksword, valued at 350

My Personality: 90+
My Mercantile skill: 20+
Buy at: 150
Sell at: 260

A few "transactions" later...

My Personality: 90+
My Mercantile skill: 30+
Buy at: 135
Sell at: 250

Isn't the damn skill supposed to enable you to buy cheap and sell at a higher price? At a higher skill level, the NPC simple refuses to let me sell at the price of 250 and above. BTW, I have patched the game.

yes, it's a bug. the higher the merchantile skill is the lower the price of good you can sell.

Damn! I thought they would have fixed this stupid bug already. Anyway, Thanks for replying, kakero.

Looks like I will have to go back to my trusty old pal; the Creeper again.

I thought that the Merchantile skill allows you to barter the shop owner down - you have to use the [+][-] buttons to change the price to the amount you wish to pay.
Works for me.

It also lowers the initial buying price. And raises the initial selling price.

Ahem...I know how the +/- button works. But as in my earlier post, initially the shopkeeper does allow me to sell at a higher price (260 septims) but since my Mercantile skill has gone up, the shopkeeper simple refuses to buy at the previous price (He will only buy at 255 Septims), IMHO what a stuuuuuupid bug.

Oh in case if you were wondering:
1. The NPC's disposition is still at 100.
2. The item in question is not damaged.
3. My fatigue bar is full

Maybe you could confirm my findings by buying and selling the same item from a particular merchant. You will noticed that as your Mercantile skill goes higher, you initial buying price does come down but so does your initial selling price, which means that you would not be able to sell that item at the old price.

Yeah, I think you could be right slackerboy. After all, I am trading with the same old person to raise up my mercantile skill. If I could level up on my mercantile skill, in theory so can the NPC... Yeah...I should try another experiment to confirm this. Thanks for the tips.

pardon me but why does this concern you so much? I mean creeper buy things from you at cost price. so you don't need to higher your merchantile skill.
