i'm wondering if my perfomance in morrowind is lower than it sohuld be. I have a p3 600, 256 mb ram, 32 mb tnt 2. In populated areas i average a bit under 10 frames/second, in wilderness i get 15-25 fps, this is at 640x480, no shadows, mid distance draw.... is this low? could someone with a similar set up (if there is anyone) please post what frame rates they are getting?

It sounds like a good performance for your system and video card, and changing to 800x600 its not suppose to hit your performance beyond a couple of frames.

Inside the Morrowind directory open the file morrowind.ini, then change the part that say;
Show FPS=0 to Show FPS=1 and a little trick to improve framerate, put your monitor refresh rate in the; Max FPS=240 to Max FPS=your framerate
