When it's all said and done, which character class do you like the most and/or the least?

I haven't played pure casters, and have only gone through once, so still some classes that I haven't been able to use yet, but here's my opinion:

I love my gadgeteer-by far my most versatile character once you get those gadget pieces. I only found two that I didn't ever use consistently...strobe light for prismic ray and invigorator belt for superman. And later models of that omnigun just kick butt!

I haven't been thrilled with Valk-although it's very nice having a decent melee fighter that doesn't have to be in the front line. My bishop took care of all my spellcasting needs, so she was rather useless there, except at the very beginning, and when she finally got portal.

I also was very frustrated with my samurai for a long time, but now he absolutely rocks. For the same reason as with my valk, I didn't have a whole lot of success raising his magic, even though I used it for ranged while he was wielding bloodlust.

I just started my 2nd time around last night. I have a Samurai
and a Rogue, two classes I've not played. They are both ahead
of my Fighter in kills. I toyed around with a Bard and a Bishop
a while back. I was not impressed with either one, but that was
probably my fault. My favorite class so far has to be the Ranger.
When those insta-kills start kicking in he can keep pace with
anyone, even Fighters.

I like the rogue for role playing purposes, they're just so much more charismatic than a fighter, but when it comes down to it, in Wiz 8, Rogues are basically fighters that use less weaponry.

The class I have the least experience with is the Monk, aside from RFS. The one change I think I'd make is to have the Lord able to Pray like priests. Bishops got the turn undead thing, so another class should get Pray.

Final Answer: Best - Gadgeteer. Worst - Lord (Just use a Valk... they're basically the same, but with Cheat Death).

Most usefull classes :

Bard : excellent fighter (short & ranged) , many bard specific items and armor, low XP req , some great spells from instruments. The real über class IMO.

Bishop : forget about pure casters... just use bishops. The special abilities of pure classes are not that great. If u use a bishop, just concentrate on one spellbook for the first levels (this is if u don't wanna 'cheat/train' your bishop), after a few levels, u won't have a problem reaching the required pts/lvl for new spells, then u can start using the other books. You'll have the levels required for higher spell books, so eventually you'll catch up.

Ranger: a must have your first time through the game... autosearch. Once u know where the good hidden items are, u can do without him, although they make great fighters.

I don't like:

Rogues: I don't like PPing, so... I tried one and I must say the damage he did dual wielding thieves daggers was huge, but... no.

Fighters: too boring, half way through the game you're already looking for a skill to put those pts into.

Pure casters: like I explained above... even without training a bishop can do as well as a pure caster, but he can access the other books and gain much more mana.

All other classes have pro's and con's but I tried all of them, and they are fun to play and develop.

Signed,
One sick Psycho

Why call it "'cheat'" training when your characters discover they can improve their skills by practising? Looking at how the level/class change system works, the fact that time is unimportant to the game, and the kinds of mobs that spawn based on your levels, it seems clear to me that practising was written into the game.

I think he might be reffering to using an editor or trainer when he says "cheat". I find the bard dosen't have enough armour to hack it in the front line but she's okay with Ranged weapons. If your looking for skill points to throw into your fighter you can always go for one main weapon (let's say, swords) one secondary (mace/shield) then you'll have to dual-wield then he might want to use a bow/crossbow (Ranged combat&bow) and then you might want him to be able to do some mass damage with items (artifacts) so let's see, that's 6 skills to increase. Now, I'd say its pretty hard to raise ALL of them to 75+...
