Aspirations - Chapter 1

[Bozos of Bones]

The flap of the tent was pulled open and a guard stuck his head inside it. "Lady Jemali?" The elf came back from her meditative state and opened her eyes "Yes?" The guard continued "We are only a two days' ride away from the town. The Lady Alyssa has called for a meeting of the officers and you have also been called." the guard pointed in a direction behind him "The meeting will start in half an hour in her command tent. I would offer to escort you, but I must gather the rest of the officers." And strangely enough, the man left to fetch the others, not waiting for Jemali's acknowledgement.
The guard then proceeded to inform another invitee, the ranger, Tishana. If only he could find her. She wasn't in her tent, and the guard saw that she wasn't anywhere within the camp, small as it was. The guard's hopes of finding her sank as he realised he was going to have to go to the woods to find the ranger. Not an easy task, especially for a guard. He stopped at the first tree at the entrance to the woods and shouted "Lady Tishana!! a few times, hoping she would hear.

Jemali Staciakerym 49/49

After the guard left Jemali thought about all the events which led to her joining this mission. Her past had many scars in it, some of which would never heal. Her hatred of her own kin was greater than that of any others. She also cursed the fates for having made her an albino. If only she hadn't been one she would still be living peacefully among her drow brethren. But as it came to be she was raised by priests. And then she trained to be a mage. At the academy where she had trained her albinoness was thought strange, but was accepted, and most people did not recognize her for the drow she was. Those who did, did not reveal her secret and became her best friends. When her study years were over Jemali adventured even further away from her homelands, heading in an easterly direction from Athkathla, where she had completed her training years. During her adventures she reached the town of Dor Ravine where she was recruited to scout upon whatever was happening to a nearby town. She had kept to herself throughout the journey so far, but now had to go to a meeting with the other officers.

"Well I guess it is time they learn more than my name about me." - she whispered to herself.

She took out a small pouch from her pocket and took out her two rings from it and put them on, and then brought out her amulet from the pouch. She looked at it for several minutes remembering what it meant for her. It was the only item she had kept from her days in the Underdark. She put it around her neck. She then strapped on her boots and put on her gloves and finally put on her robe over her normal clothes. Now only her face and her red eyes betrayed her being an albino.

She lifted her tent flap and stepped outside, then she remembered that she had forgotten her staff. Smiling a private smile she stepped back into her tent and picked it up and then stepped out again looking around her in the pleasant sunshine. She spotted the command tent from the fact that it was the biggest of all of the tents around. She walked over and stepped in.

"Am I on time?"

Alyssa looked up at Jemali, and after a moment consideration replied "No. Infact, you're quite early. I trust you already know Erenos?" she pointed to an elf standing beside her, holding a map unfolded on the table. Erenos was the archer captain, although his troop numbered only 9 men, it was the only professional military force in the group, and Erenos was the closest thing to a military tactitian, next to Alyssa. "Yes, offcourse. I bid you a good morning, Jemali. We were examining the map of the town and the surrounding area. Care to see? the good-mannered elf moved a step, allowing Jemali a place at the table. Alyssa proceeded to explain things on the map "I have sent scouts last night to inform us of any change since this map was made. This is the direction we are coming from, and this here is the town of Giller's Port, the river Fidre flows on the far side of town. The town is the only bridge over the river for more than a week riding in both directions..." As she was explaining, sounds of horses and commotion could be heard from outside, as well as shouts calling for Alyssa. Alyssa moved over to the tent entrance, saying "The scouts? They're due to come back around now, but..." and she froze. Looking at the scouts, she realised they were in a battle, and she quickly rushed out of the tent. "What happened!? You were attacked? By who?" Men gathered around to help the three scouts get off their mounts. One had an arrow in his shoulder, but was otherwise alright. One, however, didn't seem to have any physical injury, but was as pale as milk, and incredibly cold to the touch. He was shudering as tho he was in the coldest mountain in the north. The uninjured scout started explaining "We came close to the town at night, and we saw lights around it, and tents. It looked as if it were under siege. We tried to get closer, to try and recognise the banners or markings, but several men attacked us, and we never even saw them coming... We rushed out of there, and only when we were several hundred feet did we notice that Will was not with us... we must have left him, or he might have escaped the other way.." visibly shaken, tears welled up in his eyes.
OOC: the group lacks any trained medical help, so whoever feels able might try and help the injured scouts.

Jemali Staciakerym 49/49

She turned to Alyssa.

"I know a few healing spells. I shall try to cure the wounds of these scouts."

Jemali stepped over to the scout, who had an arrow in his shoulder.

"Let me help you." - she said in her soft voice.

She put her hand on the arrow and started pulling, gently at first.

"This might hurt." - and with a jerk she pulled the arrow out. She then muttered arcane words and cast a Cure Minor Wounds at the man.

She then turned to face the extremely pale man.

"And what has happened to you my friend?"

Tishana 120
Tishana sitting by a small creek, looked up as she heard her name being called. running silently back towards the camp she appeared in front of the gaurd.
"yes? you wish to speak to me?"she asked the gaurd.
ooc, sorry, our times are different and you posted this at 3 am.

Shaking out of control, the man looks up at you, his eyes piercing right through to your soul. "N...n.. nothing... I just... I attacked... attacked a man, and... he just slapped me... right over the f..f.. face... I don't k.. k. know what... was going on... s.. since. I fell.. unc.. concious..." The man continues to shudder, and gaze into your eyes hoping for help.

For Tishana
By now, the hustle and bustle of the camp is obvious, and both you and the guard turn to the camp. "Something is wrong.. We better hurry back to the camp! As he started running, he explained why he was there to call for you in the first place.
As you reach the camp, you see what the commotion was all about. Several men are tending to a scout who was bleeding from his back, and you recognise Jemali talking to a very pale man, shaking on the ground.

Tishana 120
Tishana walks over to the man bleeding first to see if she may be of service to him, casting cure light wounds in an attempt to stay the bleeding. she then turns to Jemali hoping for answers as to what has taken place.

The man who had the arrow in his shoulder is now healed completely. The sick man under Jemali's care is still shaking, and it seems he's unconcious again.

Jemali looked at the now unconscious man.

"I fear that his wounds are not wounds of the body, and I am not a potent enough healer to help him. Still we have to try what we can!" - and with that Jemali cast Cure Light Wounds at the man. She then looked to Alyssa.

"Do you have any medical supplies?"

[Bozos of Bones]

"Tanner! Bring the healing kit over!" Erenos waved and shouted at one of his men. A moment later, a man came running, carrying a saddlebag full of medical supplies. "Here it is! I hope it will do some good to Geoff..." he said as he opened the bags and pouches.
OOC: The medkit is a +5 Healing Kit.
