to Legolas:

you drift back into memory...

You ran along the southern passage, dodging from shadow to shadow to avoid the goblin sentries. Luckly, several of them were down. "Good work, Kain" You muttered under breath.

You entered a small woods and marked five dark forms in the dim light. Cautiously, you went into a crouching position.

"Just hold on a little longer, Kain!"

You silently prayed.

The fierce warrior had went to a hunt by himself, in a desperate attempt to hunt down the goblin leader.

you are protected by bushes, under cover
five goblins are ahead of you, three in semi circle, cooking, two on sentry at each side.

Legolas pulled out a regular arrow and placed it on his bow, his fingers swiftly fumbling the thing into place.
The three by the fire were covering eachother and it would be impossible to shoot one without alarming the others. But they were not the real problem. Cooking, they didn't pay attention to what was happening around them.
The two sentries were what bothered him. They did not cover eachother, but if he tried to sneak around the goblins one of them would surely spot him.
He decided to take out the one to the south. It was facing him, and Legolas had a clear view of the creature's throat. If he hit his mark, the goblin would go down without making a sound.

Slowly, Legolas took aim and drew back the bow string...

You held the string, something flashed cross your mind. If you could somehow distract the stupid thing away from the group...

Looking around, you spotted a ribbon several feet behind you

Legolas slowly put the string back in it's original position and returned the arrow to his quiver. The sounds coming out of his throat were far from human, nor did they sound elvish. The robin hipped closer to the ranger as Legolas instructed the thing.
Legolas shouldered his bow and prepared himself for another dash toward the cover on the other side of the clearing. When he was set, he signalled the bird.

It flew off, shooting toward the goblin sentry to the north, chittering all the way. The goblin gave a shriek when the robin clawed his face, causing the other four to look over
Silently, Legolas dashed around the south side of the small camp, slipped through the trees and past them, avoiding dead branches to come to a sliding halt behind some thicker vegitation.
Panting, more from the close call than the run, Legolas looked back to see the bird escape from the clutching grasps of two goblins. On the sentry, a line of blood was making it's way down, seeping into his already dirty clothes.

Reassured, Legolas focused on finding his friend once more.

You passed the camp without sounding an alarm. Silent congratulating your brilliance, you continued southward.

You saw several lines of smokes raising around in the woods. They were the scattered goblin camps, obviouisly, none had noticed you. The ribbon had followed you faithfully, resting on your shoulder. You turned to regard the beautiful bird, and muttered a small thanks.

Bending low, you moved silently. Up to your left, you spotted a goblin head. A tree trunk is between you and him. Bow in hand, you ran on, behind the tree, had the goblin in sight again when you passed the tree. The ribbon leaped towards the goblin, causing the dumb creature to look up, you let go the arrow without slowing down and the arrow struck the goblin's throat. Death captured him before he could make a sound.

You continued running. The ribbon once more rested on your shoulder.

A small goblin band is ahead, consist of a goblin captain and six other goblins in a row. The captain is behind the line. You were in the woods where bushs and trees serve the best advantage for you, but you cannot walk around the line.

You put your back against a thick tree trunk. The goblin band will reach you soon.

OOC: it's a robin, not a ribbon And the black text is annoying...

IC: Legolas knew he had nowhere to go. The goblin band would sound the alarm and he would die. But Legolas was going to take as many of the goblins down with him as he could. The ranger drew his knife and planted his back firmly against the tree. He told the robin to leave, no need for it to lise it's life as well. The bird flew up the tree and sat down on a low branch.
Legolas had nowhere to go... but up. Climbing the tree was easy. Norhtern Mirkwood was full of oaks and the trees there were taller, with more room between the branches. The elf just had to make sure he would not be seen.

Why had Kain left without him, he wondered. They had hunted the chieftain and his band for weeks, and they had left at least two villages in ruins, their once happy inhabitants now rotten skeletons. Or they would have been, if he and Kain hadn't built pyres for the dead. And now the goblins were moving toward yet another village, dozens of bloodthirsty goblins to slaughter and pillage and raze entire villages at a time. They could not allow it.
Kain was after the chieftain. Legolas knew it. Kill the boss and the goblins run, at least until they find a new one. But they had agreed to slip past the and into the next village in the horde's path.
Why had Kain left without him?

The goblins had almost reached the tree now, and Legolas sucked in his breath. They didn't seem prone to look up, but for all the elf knew one could slip and fall on it's back, and maybe spot him in the process. He was glad of his forest-coloured clothes.

OOC: it is solid grey... how come it appears black? my bad then... how about yellow?
I was imaging you'd be like Mel Gibson in Patriot, lol, o'well, guess you'll do that when your level is high enough

You held your breath as seven goblins passed you beneth. Fortunately, none had noticed you. You waited till the goblins out of sight and slipped down the tree. Offering a thankful prayer to S'ah Linn, you continued on.

Passing through bushs and dodging branches, you made your way in an adquate speed. Your kin eyes caught mark of a light footprint, human, off the main trial and cut westward into the dense bush.

"Kain?" You pondered the question, then decided to follow. The bush is not as dense as it appeared to be, obviously some larger man just passed through.

"what are you doing, boy?" you anxiously questioned. Kain was under your tutored ever since he was 12, and had proven to be a trustworthy friend, companion -- something rarely happened cross racial barrier. The boy had always wanted to prove his worth in your eyes, and the idea became ever stronger as he matures. You sighed frustratedly.

Hastely, you passed the dense bush, and came upon a small clear area. Several broken bodies lay scattered, dead goblins, you noticed. A faint noise came from behind a burnt tent, you ducked behind a tree immediately. Several seconds later, one more sound came through, someone is squirming.

OOC: My eyes! I'm blind!
Note how Legolas has a way with ignoring racial barriers
Being human, or elf, or dwarf matters not to him. Good boy, right?
And I didn't see the patriot *hangs head in shame* so I don't recognise the scene...

IC: The sound didn't seem to come from a goblin. Legolas drew his knife and moved around the blackened tent, trying to reach the source of the squirms. The robin was circling above his head, keeping a voluntary lookout for any goblins sneaking up on the elf. The footprints in the mud were many, a sure sign there had been a fight. Yet most of the footprints were easy to make out. The fight had taken place after the tent caught fire as the mud hadn't dried.
The ranger's sense of direction told him he was only a few steps away from either his prey or his friend. Or both. But there had been no sentries in front of the tent, no living goblins nearby.
Legolas quickly closed the distance and peeked around the corner of the tent, keeping his head low to the ground. Now knowing what awaited him, Legolas rose and took one final step.

A goblin form moved out of the tent, and leaped headlong into the forest. but before it reached the woods, you let go an arrow which struck its ankle accurately. The goblin collapsed on the ground, hands covering his face and begged "no kill me, no kill me, no kill me! me told you where to find Hconmem!"

Recognizing the goblin leader's name (read it backwards), you confirmed that Kain had just passed through here.

"So you are doing this alone" You silently cursed the stupidity of the boy "What have you to prove!" Shaking head, you spoke to the goblin in a harsh voice

"Quiet!" The coward goblin freeze in place "you no big human?" then he saw your face "elf!! no elf!! no elf!! me no want die!"

OOC: much better. And I ALWAYS read names backwards since the Koveras incident...

IC: Where is he? Legolas made sure he sounded angry and scary, but he kept his tone down so it would not resound through the trees and warn any other goblins.

Legolas didn't care wether the goblin told him Kian's location or Hconmems. If he found his friend, they would move onward to the village, or kill the chieftain right there. If he found the chief, he would tie him up and wait for Kain to come to him.

For a second he considered if this goblin could not be the leader himself. But it didn't have the ornaments, or the right look in it's eyes. It was just afraid, especially now it couldn't go anywhere.

Checking to see it if the rest of the tent was empty, the elf picked up the creature and brought it inside for the questioning. Twisting a few fingers always seemed to work with goblins, they valued their own lives above most things, and the way they didn't die above all else. Legolas let the goblin make as much noise as it wanted. If he told it to shut up, the beast would probably start to scream at the top of it's voice.

Where is he? the ranger asked again.
