Arcania's Fall - The Beginning

As the boats bob in the waters beneath the docks, a dwarf about four feet tall in height appears and shouts out at the new visitors ~ "Welcome to Arcania's Fall, laddies!" ~ His wrinkled face creases further and he raises a gnarled hand in mock salute to each of them~ "Traubon's my name, and I run the docks here." ~ The ring on his left ear winks in the sun.

Hands catching the ropes tossed in his direction expertly, he secures the boats from drifting away and watches as the newcomers begin to climb out of their boats onto the mainland ~ "I hope you're all here to stay… for some time, at least. Too many visitors come and go within a single day." ~ The grin fades, replaced by a look of resignation ~ "Ah, well... I've some spare copies of this town's map. Here, take them." ~ He hands one to each of them, glancing around to check for other arrivals…

As you look ahead, you see a figure about a hundred feet away. It seems to be pacing about frantically, at what appears to be a crossroads. The path leading to the figure is lined with rose bushes on the sides.

The figure is towered by a tall white circular structure from the back, a yellow building on the left and a blue building on the right.

As you contemplate your next move, Traubon's booming voice cuts in ~ "Well, enjoy yourselves here! We're a cosy community… and if you need any armoury supplies, you can find them at my cousin's… Ulfgar's." ~ He turns back to his own business, not wanting to delay you unnecessarily.

(ooc: The maps have been sent to your email accounts. We will wait for every PC to post an action, so if you wish for others to run your character while you're away, let us know. Whenever possible, we shall strive to reduce waiting time.)

Neb looked around at the town, he had enjoyed the trip by boat but now he was itching to get around a bit on land, he saw the figure up ahead and went over to him to ask him a bit about the area as he was always interested in local history and legends.

Olark exsamins the map before deciding his action.

"Well, I say we should first probley find out a little bit about the town before we go do anything drastic." He looks about the city then runs his fingers through his hair, a habbit he picked up as a child.

"You can never tell with these city folk."

Sephiroth steps out of the ship and takes the map offered by the dwarf. He looks around at the quaint scenery, then rubs some sea foam off of his forehead. "Damn small-towners... *sigh* guess i better make the most of this..."

The figure turns out to be an elf with the corn-coloured hair. As you approach him, you see him lifting a parchment to his gaze and perusing it. Ignoring your presence, he seems preoccupied with some matter, talking to himself. You barely catch the words ~ "What…do... should I… but she said not..."

And suddenly, he seems gripped by a happy thought, for his voice raises ~ "I know what I'll do... I'll go to Caius!" ~ He crumples the parchment and tosses it onto the ground ~ "He's always the one with the answers!" ~ He takes the right path at the crossroads and hurries down it… before long, he has more or less disappeared from out of your sight.

Olark looks at the man strangley. Trying to spot him in the distants.

"Hmm"

I pick up the pachment he left. What does it say?

The letter reads as follows:

My dear Jen,
I am terribly sorry for not writing earlier... please know that I am well and alive, having found a new mistress to serve... she stays at the Tower of Sorcery in Arcania's Fall. These days, she seems troubled... about what, I do not know. But that should be the least of your troubles, Jen. I am happy here, and there is no need for you to visit me. At the first opportunity, I will return to Bridgewaters to visit you. Till then, take care and I will write more whenever I can. Kira
