I think a Copper Coronet Stronghold would be cool. You get to sleep anywhere you want in the Copper Coronet, get a substantial 75% discount from Bernard because you still need to contribute some money into the business, and some cool quests, one involving stopping a bar fight.

I think it'd be cool if you could take over the Shadow Theives with a theif character. Like somehow you find out Aran really wasn't going to help you, just use you. Also, since you're such an exceptional theif, he plans to have you assassinated when he's through with you. Therefore, you have to sneak into his base, and kill him, but only him. Once he's assassinated, (No rep loss either), you get to be the new Shadowmaster. (Or assign it to the guy who tried to kill him) Also, you have the option of going to Brynlaww whenever you want...

Hi Jerr,

I'd rather have continuations of the normal stronghold quests, especially the Thieves' Guild. There's so much that could be done there: fighting the Order if you decide to enter the slave trade, fighting the Slave Lords if you don't. Fighting the Rune Assassins who want to move in on your territory. Killing either the Twisted Rune, or working for them and killing the (VERY HEAVILY GUARDED) Council of Six.

Doing individual extortion jobs, where both charisma and violent reputation count.

Doing smuggling jobs and housebreaks, where stealth counts.

Some jobs of moral ambiguity, like assassinating clerics (good or evil ones, which ever's opposite your alignment).

Heh! True Neutrals can go either way with the Clerics.

Maybe it would be cool if you could get your own shop or something!
So you could sell and buy stuff etc.
Or maybe a continuation of the Paladin-stronghold, so that you could become a Prelate, or maybe part of the council.
That would've been cool!

see ya!

Right there, I'd be concerned. If a stronghold quest gave you such an incredible discount, it would be very unbalanced. Or put it another way: I don't mind the presence of unbalanced mods, I just don't want to load 'em on to my machine! The challenge is gone if can get stuff that cheaply. For the same reason, I won't use the cheese tactic of selling expensive stuff to one or two merchants, then stealing it back, only to sell it again.

I would like to see something more for the paladins--not a castle, of course, but an active voice alongside others in important votes of the Order that affect its status and relationship with other guilds. It might be rather neat to have the Order get into a temporary war with the Shadow Thieves or the "new thieves," or the Cowled Wizards.

I just thought of the discount because I'm trying to think of what might make it more believable. I mean, why would you want to get stuff for free if you end up not making money from it?

Or, maybe just a 25% discount...

Or do it like the Thieves' Guild: store is at a small discount, but you get money from the "activities" in the Copper Coronet. You can license Dog Fights, Pit Duels, Prostitutes and Slave Gladiator Fights. Each one will increase your income, but attract some unsavory characters and / or attention from the law. Police (guard?) attention can be gotten rid of with bribes or fines. Unsavory elements will have to be co-opted (bribed) or killed. However, the more unsavory people you invite into the inn, the fewer classy adventurers you'll attract (== lower income from room rentals, and lower reputation).

Hmm, this could be very complex and interesting. Good luck!

Nifft, I think these are excellent ideas! I could see a discount of say, no more than 10-15% on goods (depending upon price), but then a 20% take on small fees for these events--with visits from the local guards and administrators wanting their cut, Keldorn and Mazzy threatening to leave, etc. Fun for the whole family!

What would be cool? To have stronghold quests made for the dual classes/multi classes - specifically for the different combinations.

To be able to buy a deed to an area and occupy it whether it be that broken down house in the docks to the house in the groves. Renovating/upgrading would also be cool. Hire more men to guard the compound. Have npc scripts that center on your place. You left some items guarded/ protected in a chest upstairs. Next day you realize the butler tried to steal them and died. Say when you do stash stuff in your chest, a series of events may happen which causes you to lose them and then you may need to go "hunt" for the stuff back depending on how vaulable they were to you in the first place.

Npcs from the area want you out and there are certain things you need to do to stay( they may not like your alignment). Some areas may hate thieves, some may hate fighters or other classes. Instead of being forced into your class's stronghold quest, you can participate in settling an area and buying that deed to some establishment and having scripts run off of that. Wanna have a different layout? Look for the carpenters who will be able to make you that castle or dreamhouse...
Take hold of a city or town and either become a tyrant or noble ruler. Many things can happen here, just pends on the depth the developers would want to go with it.

To me, home is where you take off your boots and hang your hat. Some may say it's where you keep your stash. In either case, it would be cool if the developers were to make available more stronghold quests to those of different classes and alignments and add in stuff that seems to not ever end.

To have events start off periodically either by your initiating it or just by having the time go by. More time you spend in the game, the more events will unfold around whereever you make your stronghold at. To engage in civil diplomacy or start or participate in a war.... these sort of things would make any type of stronghold seen worth keeping.

Oh, and to be able to accept mail from ppl who need your help would be nice. =/

I play a bounty hunter and would have liked to set up shop somewhere else besides the docks(altho the docks do have tons of bad characters for me to pursue). I can't so naturally anything that makes me say I can't, I'm against. My bounty hunter probably would have loved some cabin outdoors. Get a few hired hands and protect the lands sort of thing. Get periodic mail coming in on quests like so and so needs this person hunted down for X reward.

Even things for mages like committing to some timely process to learn a lvl 9 spell would have been cool. Have a fortress up in some cloud and being able to view the city from above. Buy books and dedicate enough play time to have your mage learn something normal play doesn't allow. Battle flying dragons from up above every now and then. Why even being able to control one and flying it to town. If it goes wild and kills ppl, you will be at fault. ( little things like this that makes your class and character stand out and makes you feel good for picking that class)

These sort of things are endless. Ya might not see it as a straight out answer to the stronghold question... but to me, I do. I have no one favorite class to pamper and put under the spotlight, I'm saying that all stronghold quests should be as indepth as they can be. kinda like saying if you push to the limits, then there are no limits.

And the beauty of it is 10 years ago, ya woulda been dreaming of a game like BG. And within the next 5 years or so, Stuff that we would have liked to see in a game like BG would probably be a thing of the ordinary thus feedin for even more creativity.

I agree. My favorite stronghold quest so far is the Bard one because it is pretty in-depth, but could have more depth to it. Like after doing that one play you have to write your own play...just have to pick certain options on a speech-like monitor to make one. (10 options per page.)
