What chapter are you in? You will only be allowed into Baldur's gate in Ch5. I hope you aren't trying to fight Ankhegs in the early stages of the game - quite a handful! If you are at the friendly arm early in the game, you have to head South to Nashkel. I don't want to say what you have to do later, until I know what chapter you are in, in case I spoil things!

Ok, when you found out more about the 'plot' at the end of chapter 2 a new section should have appeared on your map (as far as I remember) NE of the Friendly Arm. Larswood is the area closest to FA, with another one NE of that. If they aren't on your map go up and find them. If you are fighting Ankeggs etc you have gone North, not NE. Go to one of the areas I mentioned, and you will come across some bandits at some stage - one with a name, not just anon ones. Your aim is to talk your way into the bandit camp, pretending to sign up with them, and you will be taken to the camp. There you will meet some bandit leaders, and are free to wander around the camp. I don't want to spoil it for you by telling you what to do there, but I'll help if you still don't have any luck. Hint: You have to get info which will lead you to Cloakwood (you seem to have heard about cloakwood from someone already!), and it can be found somewhere in the camp - so speak to a lot of people and you should be pointed in the right direction. Cloakwood will appear on your map when you have accomplished your mission in the camp. Good Luck...

*HALF-SPOIL*

If you've met and talked to Branwen, her biography tells you about the guy who turned her into stone. Find this mage, threaten but don't kill him, and he'll tell .....
