What do I do with the illithium ore? I got it in the 'artist' quest, should I give it to the artist, or.....

Yes, you need the Illithium Ore for the upgrading.
There are two options for you: 1. Give the real ore to Sir Sarles, solve the quest and then kill/pickpocket him to get the ore back and take it to Cromwell 2. Give Sarles fake Illithium ore (the ore merchant can make it for you) and take the real Ore to Cromwell. Bad news. I just came back from Sir Sarles, after trying to pickpocket him. Guess what - no ore. I whacked him, but no dice that way either.
Fortunately I exported a character with the ore in his pocket - so I'll just re-import that one. Easy peasy lemon squezy. |

I was trying to pickpocket sir Sarles too, but he had no ore with him.
 Nothing except a couple of coins! No upgrade for me this time... So I would suggest to save your game before giving the ore to Sarles, 'cause there is a good chance he won't have any ore in a moment.
