Depends on what you like in a CRPG. BG2 is certainly not like Diablo 2 (never tried any of the FF series, so I can't compare).
It is a huge game, and deeply involving. Lots of fighting, but it is certainly no hack n' slash. Lots of room to exercise your brain power here - the first problem you'll run into is "What class do I play?" lol. It may be a bit hard at first if you're new to AD&D (like me). Rules are intricate. But hey you've found a pretty good forum to ask questions!! Lots of shelf life on this one, notwithstanding the expansion (Throne of Bhall, or ToB for short). I'd highly recommend this one - if you like RPGs you can't go wrong with this one. ------------------ "Butt-kicking for goodness!" - Minsc |

One negative - you won't get much sleep for a few weeks (there's always one more battle to do before you get to bed).

It is way more customizable and less linear then FF games so you feel more attached to your character and a greater sense of freedom then if you played a pre-made character and linear storyline in a FF game. The game also has very little cutscenes compared to FF and most story progression is done using the in-game engine.

Lots of positives with BG2. Lots of replayability, good price (in U.S. anyway), good graphics, very interactive (IMHO).
Negatives: Can sometimes seem too long at times. Some minor storylines get stretched a bit, IMO. Some of the dialogues are just too damn long...especially between the NPCs in your party. If you are unfamiliar with the AD&D rules, you might be a little slow getting into it and understanding all of the rules. However, you'll pick it up quickly as the rules really aren't all that complicated, just a bit intricate in some cases. Hope that helps! ------------------ ![]() Now where did I leave that doughnut?! |

One negative thing. Your school grades will drop at first. Don't let the game control you. You must control the game.
