How good is it compared to the Original BG2? Is it worth buying? Cuz i'm planning on getting this as soon as I get the money for it.
Btw I heard that the XP cap goes super high. Is this true?

It's not a standalone, but an add-on, so it doesn't really do to compare it with BG2. But it's one of the best add-ons I've ever played. More linear, certainly, but quite a few new areas, a major new quest, an NPC you can add to your party, a new class (the wild mage), a lot of well-balanced new abilities and spells for all the levels your party can reach, now that the experience cap has been raised, and a lot of fine new plot material (including a surprise visit from an old friend) and new items.

Minor Spoiler
Although there were a few things they could have added, like more things for Evil Parties to do I thought it was a good game. But, since the game takes place in whole different area then SoA, besides the Watchers Keep Dungeon that is, I think they could have made it a stand alone instead of an add-on. Of course in order to make it a stand alone they would have had to add a whole bunch of stuff to it and it probably woulda cost a whole lot more. ( $$ matter not to me anyway because I just had a freind make a copy of it for me for FREE. I'm just a little copywrite theif aren't I!! Mwa ha ha ha ha ha!) |

It's alright, I suppose. Even though it's an expansion, it is nothing like SoA; too much combat, unimaginative quests, way too much combat, very linear--oh, and did I mention there's too much combat?
They should have just called it Icewind Gate: Throne of Dale. |

quote: How clever of you to steal money in such a safe fashion from ToB's developers, so that all of us--you included--will find fewer games of this type on store shelves! Yes, a true laugh riot. ![]() If you like something and you want it to continue, it makes sense to pay more for it, not less. This is at the root of buying expensive seats for a concert, or tipping somebody for a service you enjoy. You want it to continue, and you like what they've done. Developers are in the same boat. They work hard, and for many years putting out games. Ripping off a developer means less money for them, and makes their product look poorer to merchandisers who determine how well a product does by how well it sells (naturally enough). By copying a game, you're just helping see to it that fewer games are made in the future. [ 01-16-2002: Message edited by: fable ] |
