I have never played wizardry 7 all the way through, so I don't know how many elf bows you can get ( can't you import one from wiz 6 to wiz7? ), and I don't know if you can transfer 6 of them to wizardry 8 when you import your game.

So I am asking if its possible.

And while I'm at it, is it possible to get 6 mystery rays ( in wiz7 ) and import those?

not sure but I think you can buy as many elf bows as you want in wiz7, but you can import a max of 2 or maybe just 1. the wiz8 importor restricts the number of munchkin items you can import (and some items don't import at all). dunno about mystery ray.

there is a good write up on what imports somewhere. might be on www.flamestryke.com

if you want six, just use an editor.

Yes I read that, it says "Each character may import ONE".

So I take it to mean that if I put an elf bow on each character ( in a party of 6 ) I can have 6 elf bows. I want to make sure that is correct, and if I can get 6 elf bows in wizardry 7.

I'm pretty sure that Elf Bows were not available to buy in Wiz7 but I think they were a fixed treasure at some point, which would explain why every Wiz7 party imports to 8 with one.

You could get one in Wiz6 and it did import so I think 2 is the max you can start with in 8. Flame's mod includes Elf Bows ewither for sale or as treasure drops, IIRC.

If i remember correctly, there are a limited number of chests containing EB's, like two. And there is only one Mystery Ray.
Theoretically, you can import only one item per character of the class the EB and MR belong to, so if you did get six EB's you couldn't also bring an MR, or a Spear +2 (another excellent starter for W-8) or an Ankh of Might.
I did tons of imports when i first started playing W-8, and i found it to be random sometimes, and i didn't always get everything i "should" have according to the lists on Flamestryke, but they reflected very accurately what happened most of the time. You have to understand the theory in "import item basics" and that it is a bit imcomplete as your party as a whole also has rules limiting the number of weapons/armor/misc. they can bring as a group.
The best recommendation for you would be to have all the items you want to try importing in a pile and save the game there, and test several combinations until you get what you want.
You can do that with classes, too, as some races import much better as certain classes, which you can then switch right away in W-8, and have attribute advantages over importing them in the class you switch to.

I *think* somewhere else there is a formula that encompasses everything on the flamestryke site, however, there is also an additional stipulation that your total munchkin value can't be over a certain amount. so for instance, hypotheticallly, if you have 100 munckin points and each elven bow is worth 20, then you can have max of 5 - although some other level 3 items (in flamestryke classification) might only be worth 15 enabling you to get 6 or some other convolution. Of course I could be remembering wrong or the info could be wrong to start with.

all this is moot if you really want to stay legit and can't buy them (I thought maybe the place that sells the piety ankhs near the end game might sell them). however you can easily test by using a wiz7 editor and giving everyone only an elven bow and seeing if they all import.

I imported one once and bought one once. This doesn't answer the question but it seems they are hard to find even in Flame's mod.

Well the answer is yes, you can import 6, if you can get 6. I just used an editor to give my party in wizardry 7 an elf bow each. I imported them and sure enough all 6 came in with an elf bow. Thats the only item they had though.

Now the big question, can you get 6 elf bows by the time you get to wizardry 8?

They are not available from the Wiz7 Gorror chests, so you don't have that "easy" option to get 6. I'm pretty sure that there is just one, maybe two chests in Wiz7 from which the Elven Bow is a possible drop. I'm about 95% sure that one such chest is in the Dragon caves somewhere.

yah, it's one of the ones in the secret area you have to kill the Emerald Dragon to get out of. I think it's the only one, now that i think about it some more.
