Restoration is just a name that includes several spells from that category, you use them either with a scroll or with a spell from your spellbook.
You'll find a restoration mastertrainer in the chapel in Vos, he can train you all the way up to 100. All the mages guilds have those alchemy tools, either you buy or steal them from one of those places, or get them in an alchemist's shop. Occasionally you can run into them in caves and strongholds and such. You also get them by doing quests for the Imperial Cult.

Well, i have Restoration as a Minor Skill at 15, but i don't have any spells in my spellbook or i don't know how to acces my spellbook. Is there any special way i can acces it? And how do i get spells in my spellbook? Also, doesn't this make Restoration kind of uselles? I mean i don't have any spells in my spellbook, it doesn't give me any bonuses, and to to buy scrolls and read them? This is uselles, i could buy spells and read without the restoration spell, couldn't i?

Right clicking will bring up your spellbook and other menues....I think the default location for the spell book is the lower right hand corner.

The higher your restoration skill, the more chance you have of casting a spell from that category succesfully.

you have to buy spells, then you can "equip" tehm, just as you equip a magical effect of an item.
I regret taking restoration instead of encant, because my character doesnt really use magic all that much, just magical items...

Neither does my character, i created a pure meleefighter, but the spells are there, the mastertrainers are there, and in this game money isn't exactly a problem either, so eventually your meleecharacter, is just as specialized in spellcasting and thievingskills as he is in close combat fighting. It's inevitable that you sooner or later become "allround".

as for alchemic items, there is a grandmaster's alembic somewhere either in Dagoth Ur or in Vemynal. go to caius cosades' house or to certain buildings in suran to fins skooma pipes.

I sincerely doubt that. If it's governing skill is at 100, or even higher, and the shortblade skill itself is also at 100, then how could your character be a better shortbladefighter than mine ? That's just a load of crap.

it says so right in the booklet that came with the game. major skills work better than minor skills, and minor skills work better than miscellenious skills. a miscellenious shortblade skill at 100 is less effective as the same skill at 100 if it were a major skill. other wise why would they have major and minor skills? oops, i just read it and it says that those skills just grow faster. sorry, my bad.
