L& T question

I just restarted this game after several months away...for some reason it had quit working on me. I suspect it may have had something to do with Morrowind being installed, but either way I never got around to uninstalling and reinstalling it until this week.

I'm running a party without a true locks and trap specialist. I do have a faerie ninja along (never had one before and am looking forward to the COC), but she needs to cover so many skills it would seem a waste to put some in L&T. Am I correct in assuming I can get through the monastery without good lockpicking, pick up Myles until I get my Alchemy built up, and never miss it?

I ran a party of 6 dracon Valks.
You just smash everything. get some lock picks
for the tough ones

You can also practise it up by just clicking the magnifying glass on a chest trap for a couple hours. Once you're past about 15 and not having to restart constantly, you can read a book while you do it--if you have the sound up you can hear when to click again. Save every 5 min. or so in case of tripping.
