Hey! Why can't the samurai use the Demonsting bow? Even a ninja can!

And what about the steelhide breastplate armor. Why can't a rogue use the "best leather armor"?

There may be some other imponderables like this...

I can imagine why a rogue can't use this armor :

STEELhide BreastPLATE = I think a rogue is handicaped with his movements and in his "profession" wearing such a strong armor.
( Of course, I only translated it and the words "steel" and "plate" are not good for a rogue

)

I don't know a reason why this bow is not usable for Sams.

But the question for me is : Why can't everybody use everything ? If a weak mage want to wear ebony plate : Let him ! ( It's his own risk falling unconsious after the first spell . Hehehe. )

its a decent idea, and has been done before in icewind dale 2.

mages usually wear robes, but could wear variying leather/studded/drow chian armour, but suffer 20%, 40% 60% or more chance of failed casting... somewhat negatible by some skill you could earn.

Maybe it is part of the "balancing" of professions? Doesn't quite make sense. Bloodlust is one of the most unbalanced items to get early.

I do like the restrictions on armor in general, especially if there is some way to equalize the party and still have larger AC differences. Many if not most RPGs do this. I always wondered why the pure magic casters didn't get slaughtered more easily, though. It must be in the AI algorithm to go after the highest HP or AC chars first or most. Maybe. Some critters go after magic-users first.

Currently my sam has the highest AC and gets attacked the most. Part of this is that the other front positions are held by a ninja and monk with stealth but the AC is 5 lower for them. They survive better than he.
