I have a few questions on which weapon would be better
mook fighter = staff of doom, giant sword , which would be better? Liz Fighter = i really would like to use a polearm here, just not sure which one thief = using bloodlust and poison dagger, hes doing pretty good FN= Until I get that coc, my fn just sucks, in my next game i don't think I will add a FN. Question, can the FN use the staff of doom? Would the staff be better in the hands of a fighter, or FN? My other two are 2 bishops learning 2 books each If I trade off my FN in my next game, using the classes above, I think I will just add another fighter. ::Flop:: so heres my party on the chopping block, all advice is welcomed, you guys seem to know what your talking about |

Mook Fighter : For me it's Giant Sword. I don't like cursed weapon because my fighters usually have bows, too.
If I use a polearm, I take mostly stun rod, 2nd choice is dread spear. I like paralyzed ( or hexed ) enemies. For a thief I often use 2 thieves daggers. You can concentrate the development on one weapon skill and IMO with daggers you get more attacks . Take an other hybrid fighting class for the fairie-ninja.It is sometimes useful to have a 3rd portal later. In some games I also took a valk because of her polarm bonus ( I sometimes have 2 polearm , one on each flank ). From there they can attack in all directions. But that's just my opinion. I'd second most of Loudhys advices. The party level makes a big difference too though, for a low level party the stun rod is a good polearm, later on i'd prefer dread spear (as soon as you get more swings reliably). If you want both fighters with extended range, why not give the Staff of doom to your lizzie? not a polearm, but extended reach (like giants sword, which i'd definitely prefer for the mook).
Staff of doom can be used by anyone, so the fn could get it as well, but with 2 extended fighters the don should be easy prey (at extended reach, with thief & ninja using throwing/shooting). Oth with your lineup i'd prolly think about using the short range swords like fang/ivory blade with your fighters (once you reach them). Oh and the rogue should obviously switch that poison dagger for a thieves dagger. Since you don't mention your bishops, i guess you're not doing close combat with them ![]() |

As far as polearms go, there aren't really any good ones easily available. The two best - Raven's Bill and Faust Halberd - are not easy to come by and both are cursed on top of that. A friend of mine does like fighters with spears, especially Dread Spears (which don't show up for some time). In berserk mode with powerstrike, they can do good damage.

You can get the dread spear from Bela, and you can get there early enough if you want to risk it (lvl 10 or even my current party got there at level 8).

Spoiler . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . >In my last game, I went into the Mountain Wilderness at level eleven-ish, and got out again with a Dread Spear, the Staff of Doom, a Giant's Sword and the Diamond Eyes. It took four tries to kill the Death Lord and his pet 'floating heads' without suffering any losses myself, but with a bit of cheese and a bit of luck it can be done. That party pretty much owned everything that was stupid enough to get in their way afterwards, up until they went to Bayjin where things were again evened out a bit. The DS and the SoD are significantly easier to get to than the GS and DE, though. And to really answer your question, I myself would prefer the GS for the Mook as well, freeing up the SoD for another character. Bloodlust and Thieves' Dagger sounds like a devastating combo, especially if your rogue has high strength. I'm not sure about dual TDs getting more attacks like Loudhy said, Bloodlust gets +1 attack by default, and at x2 damage, the total damage per round would probably be greater even if it didn't. Good points and bad points between the sword and the staff.
KO of the fighter add's with KO of the sword making the percentage VERY high to KO. The bad is that it takes a LOT of stamina to use. Staff - not nearly as much stamina and parlyze seems to last longer than KO, BUT paralyze won't happen as often as KO with the sword. (and obviously its cursed.) Bottom line - your liz. fighter should utilize the staff. the mook should use the sword. |

I'm not a fan of the GS, just takes TOO much Stamina to wield, even on a Fighter. Ok in a full party of 6 but in smaller parties one char ends up spending their life casting Stamina spells, just seems a daft way of doing combat.
SoD is a MUCH better weapon IMO. Well done on not using Ranged weapons, they are a total waste of time. One round of run or walk and then chop up the monsters, against firing off a load of heavy and useless arrows and stuff. |

Once you have a few Stamina regen items, it's not so bad. But it's true, Fang, Ivory, etc plus DE will do more damage for less stamina than one GS.
And if you don't need the GS, you can get the DE without having to fight the undead. S P O I L E R S P A C E Find the DE by Ranger or by casting Detect Secrets from the entrance, just beyond where the mobs can see you. Once you can see the DE, hit the Combat button, run in far enough to grab what you want (you can get the Instrument, too) and get out before you run out of blue line--once you're back outside, combat will end, "nothing to fight" |
