I can't get to the Chaos Moliri (possible spoiler)

First, I want to say that I have been perusing this forum lately and have found some very valuable insights to the game. Which get me to the question about the Chaos Moliri

I have gotten both requests for alliance and have given them to Screg. He says the Chaos Moliri is just around the corner.
There is a metal door that I can open and a sign that says antimagic is on for your protection. I enter the room and hear a humming and I see a device that I cannot touch. there seems to be a sliding panel door on one wall. There are mooks on the other side and presumably the Chaos Moliri. I cannot open this sliding door. In fact the only thing that shows a hand cursor is the metal door that I entered through. I've searched the Mook building and there seems to be no secret switch to open this door. I ask Screg and the other mook, and they repeat that the Chos Moliri is here in Arnika and that they are repeating themselves.

If you look at the device closely, you'll see that the chaos moliri is floating above it. At least it should be, if everything is ok

I saw the round object floating above the box, but my cursor doesn't show that I can take it. Do I have to put the fake on my cursor ant then try to switch it?

I tried again and found that I hadn't got close enough to the device. Now I get the hand cursor and I was able to switch the fake for the Chaos Moliri. Thanks Ferro287 for the info.

Maybe you're not standing close enough? The usual procedure is to get up right next to it, grab the sphere, the Mook protest (wall opens), you swing back to the display, artfully put the CM in your inventory, and replace it with the fake AD. It takes less time to do than to write about it, but that's how it goes.

Thanks Nightowl2, That's just how I finally did it. Getting close enough seems to be the key.

Yah, the game is funny that way. Some things you can manipulate from much further away than i'd expect, and some require microscopes.

Remember that for later. There are some keyholes (especially rapax castle and away camp) where you have to be *very* close to use the key.

But there are also some doors which you can be too close too. If you want to use something at someplace (like a key on a keyhole), always try it first without the item, until the cursor becomes a hand, and use the item only once you reached that position. Can be annoying sometimes.
