I am running my third game, and I need to know if anyone has the required engineering skill needed to make all the gadgets in wizardry. I don't want to have an NPC tagging along to steal XP's, but when I went thru the game the first time, Madras was along. He made everygadget possible which instead of using, I sold. This was helpful in obtaining 200-400,000 gold pieces.
This extra gold was used to make my party look like they shopped at Nordstrom. Everyone had a Cloak O' Many Colors, an infinity stetson, and there was never a problem purchasing all the ale they could drink from the bar wench. I also never had to worry about not being able to afford all the weapons and armor that Ferro grinds out. Since the Mirror Armor and other items listed above are quite costly, I would like to see what engineering skill is required to build the high end gadgets. Is the req skill level lower to build these items than to use them? Thanks

i dont play gadgeteers, so i'm probably not the best person to respond regarding the nuances. however, there's a list at jandrall's site of the items that are blended to make gadgets, and the level required to make them.
big spoiler: http://www.geocities.com/jandrall/Wizardry8/Recipe1.htm it's my understanding that if you can make them you can use them - but i dont know for certain. with regard to money, there are other ways to go about it. bard items sell for a pretty penny, so if you dont have those, that can help. also, pickpocketing can pick up some extra items which can also help. and, for another way, for some groups i'll even go through extra fights in the rapax castle because they drop so much loot. however, perhaps the most profitable way to make money in the game is via alchemy skill. potion mixing not only can get you cool items, and raise your alchemy skill, but you can also sell the results for big profit. although a word of warning - not everything you can mix is profitable, if you have to buy the ingredients first. so be sure to test (or check a spoiler board) before you go hog wild with it! edit: fixed split infinitive ![]() [ 10-06-2003, 09:57 PM: Message edited by: sultan ] |

Jrandall still has a couple things on that list that don't actually exist in the game: Demon Doll and Watchdog gadget.
