Lowly roaches

Here we were...we had seen the T'rang who sells stuff, I forget his name. The team was about level 10 and then the ghosts attacked as we were trying to head back to the big T'rang kahuna. About 15 strong ghosts attacked, I didn't have soul shield so I was at their mercy. Lo and behold and sacre bleu some T'rang watchers and their little friends joined the action. I have seen these roach guys being herded along but never knew they could be of any help. Well, the action got hot and many of my people were asleep or hexed or whatever. It looked like a goner. The watchers either defended from afar or fled. But these other guys, the lowly roaches, went right up to the Rebel Spirits and other ghosts and attacked when we were incapacitated. They gave us enough time to recover, after much worry, and we won the battle! Never underestimate the power of a roach (or other similar NPCs such as Myles). They can make a difference. Any other stories like that out there?

A while ago, when i just reached Arnika with a party for the first time, i was attacked by some strong bandids near the Marina. I went back to the entrance to fight one of them at a time. Anna L'Am (or whatshername) fled from the store. A bandid charged her, she punched him - critical hit.

I once had Myles charge right past me and and take out a bunch of Savant orbs single-handed with his dagger. I could have helped out and ended the fight a lot quicker, but it was more fun to sit back and watch. I also like the Arnika monks - they're totally fearless.

Yeah, I love how everyone in Arnika just runs to help out. Then after the battle's done, those who have survived just limp away bloody in that slo-mo way of their's, as if this is all they ever do and losing a pal is nothing special.

And Ziggurat, I love the comparison of Myles to a roach!

i let them go to it, too.... but i can't stand watching the good guys get banged up. i always have my priestess cast group and healing spells on them while they kill off everybody. they are so sweet about it, too. they let me keep whatever the baddies drop.

strange but true, I hate it when friendly forces helps me because it may make me lose those precious skill point that I could had if I'm the one who fight the enemy. too bad I can't kill those friendly forces or they will go hostile on me.

I had another one yesterday. Much earlier I dropped off RFS near Antoine's armory because I wanted to keep the party to six. In two battles near the square in Arnika he jumped right in. I hadn't developed him past level 11 or so and the party is now around 17. He took on 2 android Slashers, fearless. They are level 21. He was paralyzed and almost "bought it". I rushed to help him, curing his paralyzation and health. It seems silly, I opened my back to a third Slasher, but the right thing to do. Even if I wasn't going to use him again, I wanted him around. It's funny how these choices can take on a moral or humanistic character even when you know it is just a game.

well, gee, honestly, i believe it's about the best opportunity you'll get to help advance your dual teammates' healing/casting skill points. [img]smile.gif[/img] since i keep a coupla magic nectars on each of them, it's pretty gratifying to help out my "rescuers" and advance magic skills at the same time.

i was helping out some trynnie forces by casting armorplate, enchanted blade, magic screen and bless, along with a few healing spells on the front runners who were fighting pretty hard. we didn't see another party sneak up behind us, until two trynnie ran thru us, pushing us aside to start wailing on our sneak-attackers!!
you could see the blonde brigade's mouths wide open as 2 little trynnies did in 3 of the fairy critters without a single complaint. [img]smile.gif[/img] we almost forgot to heal them we were so surprised. [img]smile.gif[/img]
lowly roaches indeed! they have huge hearts and i'll always help 'em anyway i can.

well, i was just moseying around Arnika and ended up outside of Anna's place. wouldn't you know it, i got surrounded by savant troopers. i started throwing up shields and getting everyone ready for a fight, when during the first round i hear "skitter skitter skitter* and get a message "anna is fleeing for her life!" [img]smile.gif[/img]
i keep fighting and periodically hear the skitters again with the same message. i get visions of her stuck in a corner with nowhere to go, scrambling to get away.

i finish the fight, head inside to make sure she's okay and would you believe her? she starts yelling at me "G'wan you critters!!! Git yerselfs outta here! Want nothin' ta do with you, does i!" and now she's put me on probation, won't sell to me or anything! [img]smile.gif[/img] hahaha! crazy old lady!!

I wonder, V. If you had positioned yourself a little differently she might have fled in a different direction (such as outside) and not obtained an "attitude". IYE, does it wear off after a while?
