So I've tried about 7 times to paralyze Nessie, I've cast freeze flesh (highest power), used the amulet of stillness, used the freeze all bard instrument, all resulting in 'no effect'. She doesn't seem to have any water resistance, just air, or maybe I just can't tell, though I know my mage has at least 75 mythology, so I would have thought I could tell most stuff about monsters.

Is it possible to paralyze her at all and have I just been unlucky to have not managed it thus far, or does she have immunity to paralyzation or similar that I can't see meaning I should try something else?

Yeah, Nessie can be paralyzed, but best results come from using medusa stones or mystic arrows. I've found these are able to get through to most critters when freeze spells fail. If you have these, use them.

Same here...I have items like Stun Rod that have a certain percentage of chance to paralyze. I paralyzed her with Stun Rod I think.

Best results for status effects like Paralyze,KO, Hex are often off weapons rather than by casting the spell on those bigger type mobs.

i just want to add that Silence really works with Nessie, that is useful cause she always killed my sorcerers with spells. in close combat she should be no problem with Bless, enchanted blade, armorplate, superman, haste, armormelt..if you need everything
you can also try pandemoium..it should make her cowering in fear at least

I paralyzed her and thought it was from Freeze Flesh, but maybe it was my Gadgeteer who finally paralyzed her and not the spell at all. He's high level enough that he blinds, paralyzes, makes foes unconscious, etc. fairly often now. I had my bard try the Siren's Wail (which works on most critters), and it only drove her insane for one turn! You should have seen my party backpedaling!

I tried every available spell I had in my arsenal and didn't really get much effect, BUT, since I was up in one of the tunnel entrances above her pit, and after reloading a bunch of times trying different spell combinations, I gave up and just sat back with all of the shields up and let the missle weapons fly until she was dead;she couldn't get close to me. It was really pretty anti-climactic after the heart-attack I had when I first saw her...felt almost like cheating. I wish I had a save from before that battle, though, because I didn't get excaliber...I tried about five times to change the items in the chest to see if something else would show up, but it became obvious that they were set when I entered the area and I had already overwritten all my saves trying the spells...oh well maybe next game.

Encountering Nessie for the first time you turned around the rocks was a shocker! Especially late at night with the lights off and the 3d sound cranked. I tried Silence (instrument and spell) to no avail - guess my level 15s aren't good enough! I finally ended up rushing her and having a Heal All and Rest All cast every round and just pounding it out... I thought that she was supposed to drop Excalibur though???
