Unpatching Mid-game..

Hey all.

I have my game patched with the latest patch on the Wizardry 8 website, but I'm getting frustrated with the pickpocketing nerf. My Bard's pickpocketing is now at 100 (well, 85 + Filcher's Band) so its safe to say he is so good he could strip the Dark Savant down to his undies without him realizing it. However, with the latest patch there is no way to 'load' if you start failing pickpocketing attempts. Whats worse, it seems that the items you can get are now randomized, so it becomes extremely hard to pickpocket items like Ferro's Armory Key, Kunar's Commissary Key, Saxx's Soulful Sax, and other rare and valuable items! I've tried for these items forever, and I do not want to kill these folks (although Kunar will die by the hand of Balbrak soon enough..). I can steal some stuff, but once I've 'run out' of chances, I have to either sleep for a full day, or leave and come back much later in order to get a chance or two more at robbing them.

Suffice to say its getting irritating so to cut a long post short is it possible for me to uninstall the game, reinstall the game, patch to 001b, and then play from there? Or are my savegames now in the latest patch mode, and any attempt to play the patched savegames on a lesser patched game would result in catastrophic consequences?

PPing the last patch is useless. You don't get the major items only some basic stuff, all majors has be removed. Also loading doesn't change the loot. still the same. If you want to pp just play with patch 001b and nothing more.

I have 100 in PP + 15 bonus and I get catched quite often. But pushing dex + speed will help you.

As for down grading your game it's not possible. You must start a new game. Your savegame will crash the game if you try to access the load screen under the wrong version.

Damn! That really sucks! So there is no way to get the Soulful Sax or Ferro's Key without killing them? =( I guess I'll have more fun when I play through the game the second time using 001b..

To quote voice male Laidback 2..
