Argh! Has This Happened to Anyone Else?

This is the 8th or 9th time I've played this game, so it's not like I don't know the drill for this...

I'm in the Sea Caves. I killed the Guardian, looted the chest, got the "Key to Marten's Tomb" and the boots.

So here I am...I'm standing in front of the tomb, I put the key in the lock, and nothing! It tells me it needs a specific item! Hello! I've got the key and I'm using it! (I have the Helm of Serenity as well as the Chaos Moliri and Astral Dominae). I also have all the patches installed.

I tried restoring to earlier in the Sea Caves and trying again. Same thing.

My last resort is to restore to the Bayjin Shallows right before I enter the Sea Caves.

Has this happened to anyone else???

You say this is at least your 8th time through so I assume you are at the right spot, correct? You used the plank to get to where you are using the key?

Hmm...this is a puzzler. If you are at the right location, perhaps you are inadvertantly using the wrong key?

If everything else is correct, you might have encountered some sort of bug that might be able to be fixed by submitting the game to Wizardrys Tech Support team.

And you are using the "TOMB KEY not the SEA CAVE KEY? And you are standing wery close to the door? If you use the Tomb key and it not work then it is an mystrie to me!

OK - if nobody else is experiencing this, I'll just replay the Sea Caves - slowly. LOL!

I know it's the key to Marten's Tomb because it says "Key to Marten's Tomb." ROTFL! Maybe I did something weird like trying to go in the back door or something. I'll look tonight...

Rhea, you get the Tomb Key from a skeleton lying on the ground not too far from the Tomb, same "level". You click on it. Not the same as the key you get from the fight.

that message "a specific item is needed" means you are not standing in the right position.

even a step closer sometimes makes all the difference.

if you were using the wrong key, you wouldn't get that message. so take megabot's and my advice, move your position around first.

Let this be a lesson to me - never assume anything before my first cup of coffee in the morning. [img]tongue.gif[/img]

I was trying to open the Sea Caves door instead of the tomb. Maybe I should reconsider playing at 5 a.m. unless I make a pot of coffee first. D'oh!
