Pretty much the only RPC's that are willing to go there are RFS-81, Myles, Tantris, Rodan, and Drazic. All the other RPC's, including Vi, are yellow-bellied cowards!

I really don't understand why they do this in Wizardry 8. The Rapax Rift was nowhere near as bad as Bayjin or Ascenswion Peak (and few go there either). I know Trynnies are prey to Rapax & Rynjin, but wouldn't Madras and Sparkle have enough trust in my party that we'd protect them from those predators?

And Vitalia is baffling; she's a grown woman and a skilled Valkyrie, and survived her 7 years with the Savant, and yet she's still afraid of Bayjin and the Rapax Rift?

So, I figure it would be best to take RFS-81 & Tantris to the Rapax Rift so I can get to the templars and have safe access to Ferro and the Away Camp (to get Rodan & Drazic and get an alliance). But Tantris won't join me for some reason.....he tells me to speak with Z'Ant, but nothing happens after I talk with the master spider. If I am supposed to blow up the Umpani ship or forge the Umpani/T'Rang alliance before he'd join, then that defeats the whole point of getting him! And since he's one of the few who'll willingly go to the Rift......arrrgh!

The best thing is not to have any NPC in your party then you get reed of that annoying complains from them when you enter some places and you get more xp. to your remaining 6 characters if you dont have them in your party i played the game without any of this guys and it worked out good!

Plus if you play without the NPC's, with the exceptions of their quests, you will amass more experience points for your characters. I stopped using the NPC's before I got to the Rift, and have not missed them at all.

Yes, but 2 RPC's = 8 characters

In some cases, it never hurts to have extra "characters," including Summoned Elementals.

Zeios -- Tantris won't join you the first time you meet him. You actually have to go back to the Mines after talking to Z'ant before he will join you. Personally, I've never felt it was worth fighting my way through the hordes a second time just to get him. But that's what you're going to have to do if you want to grab him.
