My axe-fighter is currently using a bipennis, when going berserk, he does about 50 in dmg on each attack, meaning about 100 in each round, compared to my fighter/lord hybrid, who can do up to 4 slashes on 1 attack, and at least 2 attacks in one round (meaning 8 slashes).. each slash with about 30-40 worth of dmg.
I've yet to find a decent axe in the game.. I'm wondering whether I should roam Arnika looking for greater picuses ("pici?").. it's the only missing ingredient. |

Beast slayer Axe is not so good weapon.
This axe makes 3-17 damage,to Hit 1,Initiate -1,primary weapon,double damage vs beast,short range axe,and 1942Gold if sold. |

Better stick to swords. Some of the good ones like the Excalibre and the *Light* *sword* deals massive amount of damage.

quote: According to my guide book, the bipennis is 2D7+3 or 5-17 (I guess that is before any stength bonuses etc). The Beastslayer is 2D5+0 or 2-10 (the book does not say it but I remember that it is double damage against beasts -- which would make it 4-20 for them). IMO, not a good trade ![]() There are other axes that you will see, but not as many good axes as good swords. I have found (and sold): Plague Ax = 2D5 +2 (4-12) with 70% disease and other ailments at 5% The Ripper = 3D8+3 (6-27) 5% kill & KO. ( I think I saw this one). quote: You won't find any in Arnika itself. I think I got my first egg on the road to Arnika. I've gotten several since then, mostly in Trynton on ground level. The picus tend to roam around in groups of one giant and lots of little ones. They also don't attack unless you get too close and so are yellow on X-ray.

I agree the damage trade off from the bipennis to the beastslayer is not worth it, but I did it anyway. The bipennis is 2 handed and the beastslayer is one handed. I know axes aren't as good as swords for damage, but i just can't get away from a dwarven fighter using an axe, just my stereotype of dwarven fighters. I trained him on shield instead of dual weapons and now he barely ever gets hit in melee. With his strength maxed out and now with powerstrike increasing, I don't fell the loss in damage and enjoy the protection. I have thought about dual weapons but when I tried it I lost my extra attack each round. So until I pump up dual weapons through level up I will stick with the beastslayer and shield.
