What does this game have against my Faerie?

My first game I went all the way through trying everything in my power to get some spider silk. I had no problems at all finding piercer modai claws, picus eggs, hogar tusks, venom crab shells, iron weed thorns, plumed serpent feathers, etc. but that item I just could not get and I really wanted it to make the Zynaryx Plate for my faerie bishop. So I start a new party last week (with another faerie bishop because I like them [img]smile.gif[/img] ) and make up my mind I WILL find the spider silk this time come Heck or high water.

I am now the proud owner of six spider silks. You'd think I'd be thrilled, right? Well, this time I'm missing another ingredient. I can't find any venom crabs to save my life!

I've been camping on the beach by the monastery and wandering around the Arnika road looking for crabs and the only things I'm encountering are the Crusher Crabs. I haven't seen a single venom crab this game yet and the higher in level I go, I know the less my chances are of seeing them. Problem is that I can't survive outside of town for long if I don't level up. Currently I'm at 10 and deliberately holding but it makes for difficult fights on the roads, you can imagine.

Does anyone know of a location where these darn venom crabs can be found regardless of level? Or at least some place where the chance is greater?

Find them in the Sea caves & Bayjin also. Probably more than you would on Arnika Road/Monastery zones due to your level.

The problem is I'm nowhere near high enough level to survive either of those two locations. I've got three levels 'holding' for most of my party but even at 12-13 level the Psi-sharks or Rynjin would make toast of me...not to mention the guardian of the Bayjin Shallows. [img]smile.gif[/img]

Oh well -- I guess I'm stuck waiting until I hit 15-16 before I head over there and just hope I can still find some venom crabs there.

The best place/time to find venom crabs is when you first leave the monastery for Arnika. Their appearance is random, so you should save before leaving. If no crabs show up by the time you pass under the stone arch, restore and try again.

Of course, that's a little late for you, unless you want to start over again with your party. I very rarely see venom crabs once the monastery is behind me. Bayjin usually has curare crabs, which aren't the same thing (venom's big brother, but no shells). I can't recall offhand seeing any in the Sea Caves area, either.
