It's the gateway to one of three "retro dungeons" which are (now widely known) easter eggs built into the game.

Thanks to all that responded to the mountain wilderness/circle of stones.You say this is one of three "retro dungeons",-Where are the other two so called easter eggs? I would love to see and conquer them too! Thanks again.

The first one is the cemetery outside Arnika. Check the headstones in the graveyard (I'm sure you know what to look for , and bring along an ordinary dagger. The actual entry appears outside the cemetery.

The second is in the northern wilderness. Keep an eye on the pine trees, and have a short staff handy.

You may find them a little disappointing, since you did the toughest (and best) one first.
