Hello folks. Being fairly new to the game, I would like some
of the more seasoned players to critique my plan for building
a mage. I read quite a few posts, added what
I have learned, and blended it all together to create a plan
that I *think* will work for me. So rip it apart.

Race of choice seems to be the Faerie. I want to unlock Snake Speed
with this char so she can incapacitate (or at least hinder) the
mobs *very* early in the round. At creation she looks like this:
str 25
int 72 (+17)
pie 52 (+17)
vit 40 (+10)
dex 50
spd 66 (+6)
sen 45

For the first five level-ups:
+3 INT, +1 PIE, +2 SPD

then

+3 INT, +3 SPD until INT is maxed.

then

+3 PIE, +3 SPD

So by level 14 she would have Snake Speed, Power Cast, and
a respectable 68 PIE.

After that I will keep going +3 PIE. But what else?
I'm not sure. But this is a ways off, since she is only level 6
at this point.

For the realms, I'm going with fire and air.

So that's it. Have at it

Thanks and happy hunting

If you're making a mage, I'd say stay away from the piety on those first 5 levels. Put one less point in your starting PIE, so you'll have 67 speed. Then do 3 speed every level, that will let you hit 100 speed at level 12. Then concentrate more on your PIE while you'll have the Snake Speed sooner to be able to put skill points in it.

I found the water spells for incapacitation quite useful, and didn't tend to use the air spells except for missile shield and portal. Maybe water would be better to put points into.

Regarding your realms points, may I suggest something other than fire?

Fire Realm goes up extremely fast because there are a lot of early spells that get used often there... like Light, Energy Blast, and Fireball. Just practicing Light before you rest will drive up your Fire Realm on its own... use those points elsewhere.

Also, don't forget to save your spell picks early on... figure out what you can live without till you find their spellbook.

Plan class changing mage to bishop after you reach level 18 mage. You almost already have the minimum requirements.

Focus on 2 attributes (SPD and INT) not 3. Start building up PIE when one of those 2 is maxed up.

Fire and Air are not the realms I would focus on, but that really depends on what the other classes in your party are and whether you will follow my first advice
