Don't get me wrong. I love it. But yesterday, I was ready to go to Trynton and stopped by the graveyard. I was getting my butt kicked by a Sige Haunt and several Trynnie Haunts. The Sige haunt would cast web, paralyze, whirlwind, and lightning-all which would tear up my party especially my mage. I'm about 9th level. After spending ALL day fighting that battle I finally won. If it takes all day to do one fight, I'll never finish this game. It's still addictive. I do have a question though. I was wondering if going beserk with Bloodlust decreases your chance to hit. Having extra attacks does no good if you keep missing. I have great combat skills so I'm assuming it's the sword. I'm considering switching Bloodlust with Demonsbane that I found in the Monastary. Feedback? Thanks.

It can be a major time-eater, that's for sure.

I think that Bloodlust is by far the better sword (+6 initiative/beserk/9-17 damage v. +1 initiative/+1 to hit/4-15 damage/extra damage v. demons). You'll only have a slightly better chance to hit, fewer times for less damage with Demonsbane.

Make do, and hope (and you'll have to, because this game gives out good swords with an eyedropper) that you find something sexier a little further along.

I hear ya bro...just wait...it gets worse hehe...make sure u plan well and study how to get ur guys able to use the best spells and stuff accordingly.... Take it from a guy who knows...i won't say where it was, but i just encountered a building where there were soooo many nme's...even my characters actually said stuff like "I've never seen so many creatures!"...i knew things were bad when i cast Death cloud and killed 7..with its rate kill...u know there were MANY that lived hehe....cast radar (pretty much cuz i knew i was dead..25% of the nme were POWERFUL magic users) and i saw 33 red dots still comin hehe.

I think the key is, many times, to not generalize too much and have many specialists...each specialist appropriate for any given area should be the one most protected...and a couple of "tanks" in front

heya xerin

i also did the same fight at lvl 9 and apparently i was lucky.
i have high mythology on one of the Magickal Mistresses. by discovering the Sige Haunt ( ?? sorry, i forget exactly what her type is called) weaknesses, i was able to Silence her right off the bat (i have pushed initiative on the girls so they always go first) and then tossed a few long range fireballs that did her in quickly, while my front liners fought off the trynnie ghosts that accompanied her.

talking to friends, i discovered that Lvl 9 was probably a tad too early to go there. in another game, i bypassed the cemetery, heading off to trynton first, and returning at Lvl 11 where i found the fight very easy.

this is one game, as hard as it is, that you can't really push yourself thru quickly unless you want to be facing a lot of excruciatingly hard fights.

V***V

PS:
the swords... hmm. i think it depends on how you are developing the fighter who is using them.

~if you are making a blindingly fast fighter with lots of strikes(like, say a Samurai) then stay with the Bloodlust.

~if you are making a thumper, go with Demonsbane. a really strong girl with lotsa oomph! behind her can do a major amount of damage with that particular sword.

I hear ya.. Had similar problems with the Sorceress Queen and her goons against my level 11ish party yesterday.. eventually won and I don't mind saying it was sheer luck

But as far as beserk goes (in general and with that sword), I did notice when I started using it at lower levels I was missing a lot more than when I wasn't berserking. However now, a few levels later, with higher sword (and dual and dagger since that's the route I've gone), along with a high Dex (I started raising STR and DEX from the begining on my fighters, have maxed STR and am now raising DEX and SPD) I miss much less often when berserking. So I imagine berserk lowers your to-hit in some form or fashion, but you can make up for it by raising stats and skills. If you find you're missing just way too much you might hold off on using that sword or berserk in general for a bit until you're better at hitting people in general. Like you said, it doesn't do you any good to do 2x damage if you can't hit anything..
