I was thinking of possibly running a 3 or 4 person party. I'm uninterested in doing solo or 2 person groups, but dismayed by the 6-8 person party's exp gathering...it just seems so slow.
I know there are tons of "what's the best party" threads going around, but most are asking for 6 person group suggestions. I was thinking: Fighter Ninja or Samurai Bard Bishop I don't want any "choose what you like to play" type responses, cause I like to play em all. I just wanna know what group of 4 characters YOU think would provide the most all round complete group that would cover most bases. Obviously my thinking was Fighter for front line tank, Ninja or Samurai for secondary tank, Bard for the multi-use type (fight or songs), and Bishop for the all round caster. Granted this would most likely take forever with that Bishop to get skilled in all round caster use and for teleportation, but these are just my initial thoughts. Would you sub-out anything different for the Ninja? or Bard? or even the Fighter and Bishop? If you go with just 3 (which I probably won't do, but I'll look into it if anyone has a good idea) which would YOU take? Include the race of the classes you would choose as well and why, if you would please. Thanks for your response. I'm dalying through right now with an 8 person group and just finding the exp is not covering my playtime effeciently. Sucks to fight a battle for 30 min (took on a Greater Picus and fledglings at level 7 - and won too ) only to get a few k exp and then looking at my needed exp and it says 80,000 ![]() [ 01-19-2002: Message edited by: LordOgre ]

Four man party? I haven't done that yet, but this is what I'd do, when I do it...
1. Samurai. Human. Will get mage spells. 2. Monk. Felpurr. Will get psionic spells. 3. Bard. Elf. Will be thief and get musical instraments. 4. Bishop. Elf. Will work hard in the Alchemy & Divine schools. Problems avoided: 1. No funky races that can't equip. 2. No major fighting/armor weaknesses. 3. Serious out of whack leveling. (There will be some, though.) Advantages gained: 1. You can dual class your Bard with Alchemist later. 2. You can dual your Samurai to any fighter-class later. 3. You can dual your monk to a Psionicist and you'll already have a lot of the spells. Or you could dual to a Ninja or a fighter class... 4. Your Bishop has better fighting/armor cababilities than any of the mage classes, except Alchemist. 5. One very helpful starting item for the Samurai in the monastary. Same for the Bard. Good luck. hm: I went my 2nd time through with a 3-man-team, and now i can say its probably a little more challenging in the beginning (especially if You lvl too fast in the monastry) but soon it becomes more intresting since You lvl very fast BUT can still handle the enemies (wich was/is the greatest prob for my solo tries).
My team: 1. Human Fighter (fresh meat sightet...) 2. Hobbit Gadgeteer (wonder what this device is for ...) 3. Elf Bishop (any more books to read there?...) Its reallly a great team, the fighter is THE tank and he cuts all and evrything (in the end he got about 1500 kills with lvl 35). gave him Ebony Blade and Diamond eyes - that really hurts (poor me: when i made this team I didnt know of the premade chests..and so no lightsword/excalibur ...anyway), well not to forget: 3ple-shot-xbow in the 2nd slot .... cool if You can get 5 shots/attack with lightnings ...*G*). The Gadgeteer was my Woman-for-all; pickpocketing, traps'n'locks, gadgets - and of course ranged attacks. Often she was preparing the next aims for my fghter: shoting one round - and leaving the "prepared" enemy for my fighter to hack it down (especially at the end where beasts got hp in the 300-600). Some of the VERY importent things depend on her: she could cast eye-for-eye, Lure (GREAT when at the early parts of the game) and NegatAir to "speed up" combat. Nad finally my Bishop. Many will say I'd better choose a fairy: but i took elf, cause of the more HP and the more str (for bagpack), but mostly of the better stuff to wear early on. I have seen many comments on the bishop and spezialisation: i choose all 4 categories with no advantage for one or another, at lvlup I allways spend all points into the 4 realms, soon there will be one realm that will develop very fast since when U use skills available in diffrent realms it will only raise the one thats highest, so its easy to develop 3 realms at lvlup and 1 by using allround spells - btw: it was psionics at my bishop. At the beginning choose one or two alround-spells in evry realm and then save Your picks; the 6 realms develop so fast, even without puting points into, the picks You ll need for all the lvl 6 and 7 spells all others are available by buying (except one: I never saw Holy Water; anyone?!). I think at lvl 32 I had about 3 or 4 spell choices left (hm... whats concussion good for if You have Quicksand and Deathwish ![]() Some PartyExperience I made with the 3: Put the speed and initiative of all 3 as high as possible, since u need to compensate the fewer ppl, also keep the strength at all 3 high enough to not be in the "green" all time ( i was allmost anytime in the blue, but it wont hurt You much). Hmm.. anything I forgot? Well; my bishop was winner in the deaths statistics ...he leads with 10:6:2 vs gad:fig most of the deaths were caused by clouds or other instants (apus aso). In the Kills my bsihop couldnt get up to my fighter allthough he gets most of the kills in the middle (by area spells) and endgame (by Clouds and instants). the Gadgeteer only gets his kills in the middle game with good amo and in the end with negatair, the rest was support. Statistics was about 1500:300:800 ...around that ..donno exactly anymore. Oh ... forgot the placing: my fighter stoud in the front ...gadgeteer and bishop in the middle Hope that helps alot. btw: Currently i am runnign The Eastern Team: Samurai, Ninja and Monk. atm i can say that this is the average of the former team with the missing of the devinityrealm. Its fun too, but a lill bit harder since u miss the great Smasher and the great Caster in some cases and anotherpoint: thsi damned stealth skills prevents my nnja and my monk ... for the cost of leaving my samurai as canonfudder ...anyway ...my 2 €-cts ![]() Spary |
