Question??

From a Walkthough posted on a Wizardry 8 webpage I discovered that you can enter a secret/retro dungeon from the cemetary in the Arnika/Tryton Road area. Apparently, you click on the six runes on the graveyard stones, then stick a dagger in the pillar on the southwest corner wall. Well, I clicked on all the icons, then proceeded to the appropriate pillar. I've tried sticking a dagger in it everyway I can think of and nothing works? (I am getting a message here saying "specific item required", so I know I'm at the right place). Will any dagger work, or do I need a specific dagger? Am I using the wrong method to "insert" the dagger? Please help.

Thanks!!

First confirm for certain you are at the right pillar - your cursor will turn to a hand when you get up close and put your mouse on it.

Next pickup a normal dagger (not any of the dagger variations) and click on the piller again with it. It should stick into it. Then you can run all the way to the right hand bottom of the section and you will see the mushrooms.

Also the appropriate corner is slightly illuminated once you have activated all of the runes. I'm not certain how easy this is to see during the daylight hours, but it is noticeable in the evening.

The circle of mushrooms that Strider mentioned are actually outside the cemetary wall where you must place the dagger.

You might try getting as close as possible to the wall before attempting to "use" the dagger. Simply take the dagger out of your inventory and click on the corner/wall. Often times I've found that your proximity to a target area that requires action (such as this corner) makes a big difference. You will know when it works, as the dagger will be graphically displayed as being wedged into the wall.

Edit: Though you probably know this already, make sure you're using a standard dagger (no poison daggers for example).

Also make sure you have a pretty high lockpicking skill or have plenty of lockpicks!!!The only way out is past a very difficult locked door. I had to restart after getting stuck there myself. So save before going in...John

if you do the entire dungeon, there are things provided for you down there that help you get past the lock.

however, i was a lvl 8/9 bard and had no problems with the locks.
