Hi everyone. I just found the site a few days ago and am really excited about Dungeon Craft. The only problem is, being SO new to it, I could really use detailed instructions on how to use the program. Do you guys where I could find an on-line instruction manual or something simliar? I feel overwhelmed when I look through the program and think of figuring it out by myself.

Thanks!
Tracy

Welcome to Ironworks!

One of the DC Masters, if not the DC Master, is Manikus. He has a couple of sites with projects and artwork. There's also an FAQ which should be able to get you started.

And don't worry, you're not the only one new at DC . I've probably had the program for about a year now but I've hardly learnt anything and all my projects are worked on for 20 minutes before getting scrapped.

Welcome to the DC community!!!

Manikus is tha man, and you should check tha site out... Its found at http://www.geocities.com/manikus5/dc

Another place to look that might get you a feel for some of the tricks mod designers have found for making better mods is the UA newsletters on the giga site:
http://www.giga.or.at/pub/ua/uanls.htm
These are built around the old-school FRUA game, but many things (like how to build good mods advice) apply here, too.

One thing I've noticed is that when I first signed on here at Ironworks is that the message board here was always busy with people talking about DC... Now its virtually empty. The place to be now is the UAForever group message board on Yahoo, thats where we are now (who knows, being like gypsies, we may move again!!!)

Being that DC is a work in progress, there aren't a lot of mods available to try out an get a feel how others do it... In fact I only know of one or two, and these are available to members of the UA group on yahoo for download. You should check that out, because there might be more, and thats definitely the place to talk to people about DC.

N E ways, welcome to da club!!!

Thanks for the welcome and the info, Jaradu! I appreciate it and I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who's sort of a newbie to all of this!

Thanks Silent Thief. I appreciate the info and the links. It's all so new it's hard to know where to start but this should give me a good idea.

hello!

welcome to dungeon craft. i don't know if i'm the expert or not, but i'll certainly do what i can to help.

do what jaradu and silentthief have suggested and you'll be well on your way. visit my site for links to the rest of the community. (the address is in my sig.)

i recommend joining the yahoogroups list, just b/c, as silentthief said, it appears to be the place to be for now. but, i make all my announcements here as well and check in at least once a day.

i know the documentation and examples are sparse, so by all means ask questions.

So should I remove this Forum since everyone is there? Just curious.. Has anyone posted on the Yahoo groups about this place? I find the Yahoo groups really bland, and hard to visually enjoy. This forum has a LOT more 'warmth' than a corp. free webarea, you know?

Ziroc,

Even though RL has pretty much eaten me these last few months, I for one love these forums and have to agree with you about the 'blandness' of the Yahoo Groups.

So you definately have my vote to keep these forums here!

Hoping to get back to the wonderful world of DC soon,

Tarlanon

keep it open, please.
i, like the rest of you, find yahoogoups kind of boring, but it does offer some convenient add-ons, such as being able to host files, etc. but, i've always thought of this forum as the place where the community resides.
it's like this (to me) if you want to talk- go to the ironworks forum, if you want to go to the library- go to the yahoo list.
