This is going to sound like a stupid question, but what is Tutu?
Cheers

The TuTu mod allows you to play BG1 with the BG2 game engine. It DOES NOT make BG1 and BG2 one big game, however. You would still need to make a copy of your final save so you could import your character into BG2.

How buggy is tutu these days, I tried it once when it was fairly new. *shudders* Not an experience I'd like to repeat...

There are many tutu fixpacks, so the number of bugs has been considerably decreased. Check it out here:

i liked tutu. it's a nice play on words kinda like change bg "to 2", isn't it?
anyway, the biggest drawback for me wasn't bugs... i just never ran into any. but rather that it brought all the kits and such like from bg2 into the original saga. i felt that was out of place but solved that problem by not using any of them.

the best thing was that i had encountered problems running bg on my new, fast computer and tutu allowed me to play it again.

The main benefits with Tutu is that it allows a higher resolution, faster walking speed, kits/sorcerers/monks/barbarians, and
some interface improvements such as my favourite "pause when trap found". It is obviously slightly buggier than patched vanilla BG1, so if the functions mentioned above are unimportant to you then there is little need to use Tutu.

Some minor spoilers:

I'm playing tutu v4 with what seems to be the latest fixpack (downloaded from the pocketplane website) and it is very much playable. Have run into these significant bugs so far:

Kivan cant rejoin after being kicked out of the party. He is stuck with his departure dialog. That can be worked around with Gatekeeper.

Severe lag in some areas, notably the gnoll fortress and the area above it.

Game hangs upon inter-NPC fighting (such as Khalid/Jaheira vs Xzar/Montaron).

Noobers quest doesnt work properly.

Otherwise its fine, but I would play with the original BG + max HP and large items stack mods if only there was a way to get BG1 to freaking pause when trap found.

Err, moving rather slowly in small steps with detect traps on generally helps discover traps easily enough. I don't need no autopause for that.
Maybe a reload or two here or there, but its not something I'd fret over. Hitpoints isn't a worry for me either. Its a roleplaying game after all, I take my strengths and weaknesses in full, no reloads for level ups. Having a high constitution obviously helps a bit.

I've been tempted to try Tutu a couple of times, but decided to go with Darkside first. Maybe next time however, I'll give it a shot.

Are there many additional banter packs for Tutu then with the original BG npcs? I'd be curious to know also how well written they are and if indeed they manage to stay in character for those who have tried them.

Its all a matter of personal preferences I am a very casual player and simply too lazy to micromanage my thief to such an extent, especially in outdoor areas. HP is a different cup of tea, 19 or 28 HP at lvl 2 makes a world of difference when it comes to early game reloads. There is a mod in either tutufix or the other tutu extra that allows random hp gains in the upper half of the dice roll range a la NWN that I could consider. Both features can be turned off anyway.

There is little reason for you to use Tutu if you dont care for those changes, as some of the bugs are a bit annoying from the RP point of view.

I think there is a BG1NPC mod that flesh out the NPCs (Kivan reacts to seeing Tazok, Branwen to Tranzig etc), but I dont know if that is for vanilla BG1 or for Tutu. I might try it later, it sort of bugged me that Jaheira didnt object to the killing of her own archdruid.

Look at the pocketplane forums for more information
