I keep getting "An Assertion Failed in D:\Dev\Baldur|CGameEffect.cpp at line number 808" when I try to move into an unexplored area. Has anyone ever had this happen and if so what is it and more importantly can it be fixed and how?

Are you using any game conversions such as tutu or Dark Side of the Sword Coast? That could be what is causing the problem. If you are, try un-installing them and see if you still get the problem.
If not, try re-installing the game.

Hmm, its been awhile since anyone responded. Would have been interesting to know if you managed to fix the problem, Bear Rune...

Coincidentally, I'm also getting a similar assertion error:
An assertion failed in \dev\baldur\Objcreature.cpp at line number 10806. It crashes the game with this message as I try to climb the stairs to level 3 of the Nashkel mines.

I'm trying Dark Side of the Sword Coast for the first time with ToTSC installed, so I'm assuming this could be the problem. But I will do some research first. Grr! It'd all been going fairly smoothly before this potential showstopper.

So far I've deleted the cache and temp directories in the hope that it would fix itself, but to no avail. I'm kind of dreading the next step: having to do a complete reinstallation. Since I have DarkSide installed - it might corrupt the saves somehow if I uninstall/reinstall.
