Ah, I still remmember that one day a couple of years ago when I was soooo bored I pulled out my dads tapes and had a listen...
Thats when I cam across The war of the Worlds, and I have loved it ever since.
Well as you guessed it, they are making a movie

The official site is here
Where you can see the trailer.

Well, who else has listened to the war of the worlds, and do you think it will make a good movie?

Me? I think that as long as they keep the original music in there, it might be good, but we will see.

lol, I got with that first link didnt I?

Well you could check out the original "War of the worlds" movie (1953). I thought it was pretty good movie and the fairly recent TV series was a spin off from this old classic, personally I only enjoyed the series with Lt. Col. Paul Ironhorse in it (1988-1989) . So Yes it can make a good movie. The question becomes weather they will kill the story for greater special effects as usally happens in the remakes.

I remember seeing the old movie as a kid... was terrified at some of the scene but liked it a lot... hope they don't turn it into computer graphics extravaganza

Yeah, I get the feeling this will turn into a graphics fest, but I really hope that it doesnt as the music was a very good piece of art and shouldnt be ruined by the greed for more money.

I love the 1953 film. The special effects are over 50 years old but they still deliver. Amazing! Two years ago they showed the movie to the 7th and 8th grade classes where my wife teaches. They were at the edge of their seats the whole time. Not one kid called it "old fashioned" or out of date, they liked it that much. Goes to show that the story is the most central aspect of a good movie not the effects. War of the Worlds had just the right amount of effects.

* Favorite scene: The airforce just dropped the A-bomb and out of the dust and wind three Martian machines are heard first and then seen. Still gives me chills.

Heard this was coming out a while back!! I am just GLAD because you KNOW this will allow for the War of the Worlds TV SERIES to be released on DVD to cash in on the movie I hope so! I have the nasty VCD's --as resource material for my WotW Comic I am making, called "Intruders on Earth". Loosely based off the TV SERIES.
