No, I'm not talking about that kid who spraypaited stuff in Singapore a few years back...I'm talking about Green Day's new album, which is AWESOME, in my humble opinion...

What are YOUR opinions?

It's Green Day... not their best effort but not horrible either, and pretty standard for their sound (not breaking new ground by any means).

Have not heard the whole album though... could be some gems that haven't been widely released yet.

I haven't heard the album but I have heard the song "American Idiot" I think it's pretty good

This is the only album I would say that CANNOT be fairly judged until it is listened to in its entirity IN ORDER. The thing is almost operetic! (sp?)

Each track is like a chapter in a single story that spans about a year in the lives of two young men...I haven't listened carefully to it yet, but stylistically, it's what Nimrod tried to be, and couldn't quite manage. It's what the Beach Boys did with "Pet Sounds" and what the Beatles did with "SGT Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" or whatever.

The actual song "American Idiot" is the only song you can REALLY take completely by itself, as it doesn't deal with the character "Jesus of Suburbia" or "St. Jimmy" directly...

Again, still working on WHO these cats are...but it's still awesome, and I'm going to listen to it again tomorrow!

I'm planning to get it. The only Green Day albums (aside from any live albums) I'm missing are "Bowling Bowling Bowling Parking Parking Parking" and "American Idiot". Dookie remains the best, however. Nimrod a close second.

I'm not useually a big fan of Greenday but the single brought out with the album is brilliant. It's done really well here in the UK.

Stylistically, I must say that it tend to be softer than a lot of their stuff is. "Brain Stew" and "Geek Stink Breath" you will not find here. It's softer, but still retains the real character that they tend to build upon...I'd recommend it to any of you, really.

Just another crapy band trying to capitalize on the growing TREND of Bush bashing. Thats just me though. I like more depth to my music, not punk >shrug<. I just don't see much talent there. Tori Amos, NIN, Manson, Linkin Park, these bands have some talent IMHO. Ok, Linkin Park isn't alot of talent, but they are cool and I like them, heh. Like him or not, Manson is genius and his music roxors.

Sorry to burst your bubble, Morgan Corbescant, but Green Day is not 'just another crappy band'. They've been around for over 12 years now, longer than Linkin Park or Marilyn Manson for that matter.

Thats why I said "thats just me though". I don't like them, and I'm free to say so. I don't like any band that bashes a government based off of what the media tells them (lies and partial truths)just for the sake of selling some records. I liked a few of their songs in the 90's, but only a few. Same with Nirvana. I don't even like all of the songs of the bands I named above, and I'm a massive NIN fan. Just my opinion, sorry to offend anyone.
