Anyone saw it? I liked the movie pretty much. The plot was so-so but Jim Carrey did a really good job IMO. So if you can see the movie. It was good.

Yeah I liked it . Much better than that other 'reality' movie that came out at the same time, Ed something-or-other?

Although the other day I saw Jim on Oprah - man is he offensive in real life! Not offensive as in rude or unpleasant, but his 'humour' is so obnoxious and loud, and really, once you've seen him make a funny face, it's not funny anymore . Plus he really brings out the worst in Oprah - she does like to be the centre of attention, (which is an interesting trait for an interviewer ), so Jim just makes her get louder and louder.

I think you mean Ed Tv.

I own the Truman Show on video and enjoy watching it every once and a while

Some people may throw rocks at me for this one--which is the beauty of the internet, btw--but The Truman Show is JC's best movie, IMO of course....

It has a much more sophisticated humor, and you actually have to think about it a little, which is why I ALMOST liked The Cable Guy (though it just couldn't pull off the thoughtfullness ).

That movie(Truman Show, not the Cable Guy) could easily get into my favorite 10 for plot and details.
HTV 1 is nice, eh Xen?

Honestly, I thought it was utter crap. I think the plot was lacking and that Carrey did his typical hamming it up act but dork versionized.

If you want a good movie with a similar flavor why not rent that Tobey McGuire/Reese Witherspoon movie where everyone turns from Black and White into color. Pleasantville. That movie rocks.

I disagree Smoothie - Carrey may have gurned his way through the script but it seemed like the director just took no notice of it. Unlike most of his films the script was good enough to stand on its own and wasn't based around the fact that he played the lead role. In my opinion thats the only mistake they made in that film - casting Jim Carrey. He wasn't bad, but it drew a lot of the wrong kind of attention.

And Ed Harris was awesome in the Truman Show. The final discussion between him and Truman was outstanding in every way - scripted, acted, and filmed really well in my opinion.

Ed Harris is always solid, I have heard he is a brick in real life though which totally spoiled my image of him.

The Truman Show is definitely the best movie JC has been in - and his performance was brilliant, in my opinion.
